Publication information is for the USA, and (unless stated otherwise) represents the first print edition. I was lured into Joe's world from the first few chapters and the twists kept me absorbed until the end. William begins to have an asthma attack, and Joe makes a split second decision that will change his life—he leaves Ben where he is and rushes his son home. I figured out rather early on what was really going on, which turned this into a boring reading experience. Joe backs off, but Ben punches him and in the midst of the encounter Ben falls backwards and hits his head.

I’m confident there will be many readers for whom the addictive pacing and easy-to-binge entertainment value of LIES will make it very well suited, I simply wasn’t one of them. be read year-round, but there’s something undeniably perfect about cozying up with a great crime novel as the weather gets colder. For me, this book was a chore to read, one that I struggled through and pushed myself to finish, not because it was a difficult read or anything like that (in fact, I found the writing on this one a bit too simplistic), but rather, I felt that the story never really took off.

THAT moment when you see or know something that you would kill not too and your heart and gut just drop. He can trust no one, as his friends abandon him due to his connection to what has happened and he is suspended from his job. I read Lies with four of my book buddies, Melisa, Holly, Berit, and Mack, and it was just the type of delicious thriller I love to read and discuss with friends. Unfortunately, it’s not a very evenly matched fight and, when the much larger Joe tries to push the smaller Ben away, Ben falls and hits his head. I absolutely loved the short chapters and the cliffhangers - it really kept me turning the pages and was created a super speedy pace.

I wished I could read it all in one sitting, especially with the quick chapters and precise writing. Who wouldn't when electing to enter an occupation known for miserably low pay and a notoriously high workload. He browses Facebook and the news to blame the other guy for his unpleasant situation – not thrilling to read for me. Ranked from Christmas level 1 - 5 (with Level 1 being Christmas in the background of the story, and Level 5 being a full-on, 100% Christmas-y plot! The book has already been praised as “riveting” (Megan Miranda) and “bingeworthy” (Caroline Kepnes), and it’s sure to be one of fall’s must-read crime novels.
