I’d hide in a little alcove halfway up the stairs, watching the beautiful people arrive for lavish, catered cocktail parties. Perfect for fans of Tina Turner’s My Love Story and Sally Field’s In Pieces, this international bestseller is an extraordinary can’t-miss memoir.

For me the most enjoyable parts of the book was reading about Olivia's early life and career, including some interesting insights into her family history and her time in Melbourne and the UK before cracking the big time in (around) 1970.As a person who has dealt with cancer, I appreciate a person being upbeat about life and the future. Legendary musician, actress, activist, and icon Olivia Newton-John's fascinating life story—from her unforgettable rise to fame in the classic musical Grease to her passionate advocacy for health in light of her long battle with cancer. However for me it was just a bit 'away with the fairies' and not really the kind of material I would read if it had been written by someone else. I've been a fan of Olivia's for forty years and can still sing a great many of her songs word-for-word because I sang them so many times in my younger years. I really enjoyed listening to this, not just because of the uplifting quotes and positive vibes but because it was also very interesting for various different reasons.

In 1978, her co-starring role with John Travolta in Grease catapulted Olivia into super-stardom and to date it remains the most successful movie musical of all time. There are some great stories about her parents, how she came to star in "Grease," her tap dance number with Gene Kelly, and more.

One evening after school, my father calmly told me, “Your mother and I are going to live separately, and you will go and live with her. It wasn’t long before we were in a new country and unpacking boxes at our fantastic new home on campus, a beautiful stone mansion with endless bedrooms and our own housekeeper. On my way home that day, the big force of nature and former MI5 agent that was my dad intercepted my tricycle and pulled me the rest of the way home. The one’s that stood out for me were her friendships with Pat Carroll, Susan George and Karen Carpenter! Contains little to no new information about her career in music and motion pictures and way too much about “healing energy” and “love and light.

I have very few memories of that time besides crawling around on a thick blue carpet between my parents’ twin beds in their bedroom. My parents might have never met at Cambridge if my mum didn’t have such a keen ear for beautiful music—the kind that could melt your heart. I grew up in a household that worshipped movie musicals, so Olivia Newton-John is a face and voice I’ve known well since childhood.A four-time Grammy Award winner, she is one of the world's bestselling recording artists of all time, with more than 100 million albums sold. Don't Stop Believin' flows beautifully though, and the writing is done very well, so it has that going for it.

Instead it comes across as a promotional piece for her concerts, her cancer center, and her husband's strange use of South American herbs. After all, the film, along with the 1980 musical “Xanadu” has had such of a positive impact on people’s lives — and being positive is what Newton-John is all about.
