Description

The conflict is primarily driven by the other Hales, specifically Travis the cousin and his mother. Archer tells Bree that he is mute because he was shot by his uncle when he was seven. The story opens with a seven year old Archer listening to his Uncle Connor beg his mother Lys to run away. As the tale unfurls, you learn of a complicated soap operatic relationship between the Hale brothers and Archer’s mother. And there’s some suggestion that drama is attempting to repeat itself between Bree, Archer and Travis only Bree’s affections clearly lie with Archer. Crystal learned long ago that love brings only pain. Feeling nothing at all is far better than being hurt again. She guards her wounded heart behind a hard exterior and carries within her a deep mistrust of men, who, in her experience, have only ever used and taken. We started the story when they were kids and the way their connection in this part of their lives was described was incredibly beautiful but still naturally very innocent. But as they got older, their feelings grew into a powerful, passionate, all-consuming, undeniable, desperate love. When they finally came together, it was explosive!!! And as a result, I would absolutely call this an adult read. Guys, it is HOT!!!! THIS IS THE SECOND PART, AND CONCLUSION, IN A TWO-PART SIGN OF LOVE SERIES, INSPIRED BY AQUARIUS (BECOMINGCALDERSHOULD BE READ FIRST). New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and graphic sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

The first book in the Acadia Duology, a forbidden friends-to-lovers romance, from the New York Times bestselling author of Archer's Voice. From the New York Timesbestselling author of Archer’s Voice, Mia Sheridan delivers a heartwrenching new standalone contemporary romance. So much passion. And so much hurt. But it's only in Archer's silence that we might just find what we need to heal . . . andlive. When I came upon your book, I had spent several weeks reading dark books with quite a few anti heroes and your sweet, tender romance was quite refreshing. I had no idea what I was in for when I started the book as I hadn’t read you before. It’s a rare book that compels me to spend the entire day reading, so I was thankful that I began Mia Sheridan’s Archer’s Voice the morning of Mother’s Day so I could indulge in such a great story without guilt while the family fed me and handled the daily chores. As for Bree, she’s the perfect combination of determined without coming off as pushy. When Archer at first ignores her attempts to communicate with and befriend him, she doesn’t give up. But never do her efforts to get to know him cross the line into stalker-like behaviour. She has to earn his trust and the pay off is well worth the effort. Becoming Calder is the story of good versus evil, fear versus bravery, and the truth that the light of love has always found its way into even the darkest of places... From the beginning of time, to the end of the world. The forbidden love aspect was painstakingly beautiful in this book and got me hooked from the start till the end. The secret meetings they shared, their intense love and longing for each other, the pure joy that exudes from them in each encounter after they struggled so hard to meetup; ALL of these emotions that both of them shared, I genuinely felt them too. Kyland is a story of desperation and hope, loss and sacrifice, pain and forgiveness, but ultimately, a story of deep and unending love.

I’ve labeled this book a contemporary, but it could also fit into the New Adult genre given that Bree and Archer are both in their early twenties. To be sure, there are little of the typical NA tropes, and even when the book does skirt close to clichés, it manages to remain fresh and unique.

Jenna Harper

In this place, there is a girl with the face of an angel and a heart full of courage. To her family, she is the vision of obedient perfection. But she dares to want that which she has been told can never be hers.

Eden never signed up for this life. She was brought into it as a child. She understands her ‘place’ in the community, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t feel things. Even though she doesn’t get to spend much time with Calder, watching him over the years, she falls more and more in love with him. But no matter how much they tried to fortify their hearts and condition their minds into not falling in love with each other, it still happened. To want someone that can never be yours and only to be temporarily satisfied with stolen kisses and hidden moments seemed to magnify their love and intensify the insatiable craving for one another. But with both of them trapped in a suffocating community where the leader’s teachings were law, they could only dare to dream of a different life, one where they were free to express their feelings and build a life together. Like the blurb suggests, there is a place in present-day where people faithfully follow their chosen leader, worship their gods, and live with no modern conveniences. It is this kind of community where Calder lives, and where he meets Eden when they were both children. As the years pass, their connection grows more strong and intense. Every single moment they were together was precious and cherished but both knew that a relationship was forbidden because Eden was betrothed to another. There is a place in today's America with no electricity, no plumbing, and no modern conveniences. In this place, there is no room for dreams, no space for self-expression, and no tolerance for ambition. I'm going to take you away from here, to a place where my bed is your bed, and my home is your home. And in that place, I'll never be more than an arm's reach from you."
