Description

This chapter is everything I could have plausibly asked of it and a whole lot more. Huge fan. Chapter 4: Giant Enclaves Notably, D&D Beyond has also released a free 16th-level one-shot entitled Giants of the Star Forge, which is designed to supplement the materials presented in Glory of the Giants. As with almost all of the Wizards of the Coast D&D fifth edition books, the artwork here is incredibly well done. Everything from the layout to the interior art is beautifully put together and really captures what makes giants so cool. While controversy around AI generated artwork is starting to appear in the RPG industry, the artists WotC employees on projects like Glory of the Giants show that there’s definitely something to be said about the human touch.

Unfortunately, these well-designed and thought-out locations are somewhat marred by the fact that the “adventure” suggestions in each location don’t have any ties to CR, which will make these resources difficult to use for newer DMs who rely on that level of guidance. Magic Items So is Glory of the Giants a genuine dose of fee-fi-fo-fun or is it a gargantuan flop? Read our review to find out. (Full disclosure: we received both a physical and digital copy of the book from Wizards of the Coast for the purposes of this review). Table of Contents This chapter will offer a variety of options and advice for encounters, adventures, and campaigns involving giants, and incorporating new player options and monsters found elsewhere in the book. This book and Fizban’s have both offered magical firearms, which is interesting, and I like that there’s gear intended to improve your unarmed strike. I’m much less convinced that the war horn of valor, with its special ability to grant +1 AC to creatures of your choice within 30 feet, is a good idea in 5e mechanics. One round per day of +1 to AC sounds a lot like “many days, this won’t even turn one hit to a miss.” Small, static bonuses are something the edition has mostly stayed away from, and I think that’s been to its benefit. All that said, most of these items are awesome. Chapter 6: Bestiary These are all fine, and this feat has a lot to offer rogues as well as all other weapon-wielders, though fewer rogues will have great Strength or Con scores to build up the save DC.No new spells or races and only one subclass make this book a less sizeable offering of player options than Fizban’s. Overall, I like these feats okay. If they had been out when I first created my Rune Knight, I might have considered building around Strike of the Giants and one of the follow-on feats. The DM would let me rebuild, I’m just not sure how much I want to – I’m already a fire genasi Rune Knight, that’s a lot of elemental theme going on. Chapter 2: Giants in Play Chapter 4: Giant Enclaves: This chapter is also intended for DMs and presents a series of 18 unique locations (known as “enclaves”) that are either created by giants, controlled by them, or otherwise related to giants and their magic. Each section contains a map of the enclave, a description of its various features, and adventure hooks with advice on how to integrate them into a campaign.

Either way, living among giants as a Medium- or Small-sized creature is bound to have a profound impact on your life. To put it in perspective, most giants are Huge creatures. The smallest giants of the ordning are hill giants, who stand at around 16 feet tall. Growing up in surroundings engineered for creatures at least double your size means everyday activities like eating, sleeping, or navigating your home have been a challenge that requires innovation and adaptation. A +1 ability score increase, cold resistance, and a Reaction similar to Hellish Rebuke. The Reaction targets Constitution saves, and Constitution saves tend to be high, so this may not be reliable. Guile of the Cloud Giant Explore the wondrous realms of giants with this supplement for the world’s greatest roleplaying game.

Big Character Options, Big Adventures

Big things are coming from Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants! This giant sourcebook will take you into the worlds of giantkind. Here, you’ll explore the rich history of these primordial creatures, get a look into the powerful places that tie into their society, and be able to harness the power of giants with new character options! Because the damage is “extra damage”, it is multiplied on a critical hit. It can be very tempting to reserve Strike of the Giants for crits, but usually it’s more impactful to use it for the rider effect. We will not include 3rd-party content, including content from DMs Guild, in handbooks for official content because we can’t assume that your game will allow 3rd-party content or homebrew. We also won’t cover Unearthed Arcana content because it’s not finalized, and we can’t guarantee that it will be available to you in your games. Your choice here also limits which other feat in the tree you can take. Since Strike of the Giants can’t be taken more than once, you’ll typically select your type of giant based on which of the 4th-level feats you want to take.
