If you want to keep your walls looking clean and dust-free, there are several steps that you can take. Below is a list of the best things you can do to keep your walls looking clean and fresh. Dust the Walls Regularly Once your job is complete, sweep and clean within the enclosure before disassembling (this will prevent hidden dust from spreading!) Once clean, remove all tape, keeping the plastic sheeting in place. Lower the dust containment poles, and unclip the plastic from the top grip pad. Depending on the type of work, fold the plastic up and use for the next job — otherwise recycle. Air cleaners are a must in the equipment inventory of every construction or renovation company. They reduce dust in the workplace to a minimum. If hazardous substances are involved, there are penalties if the filter is missing. The simplest option for filtering exhaust air are transport fans, which are fitted with a cassette filter on the intake side or a dust bag on the exhaust side. M-class filters are available for both variants. Paint mist can additionally be extracted with a cassette filter. If filtration according to dust class H is required, air cleaners are used. These units are used in the remediation of, for example, old CMF, asbestos or mould. In contrast to transport fans, these units have much finer filter material, filter change indicators and much tighter closing housings. The high-performance filter PowerFilter 3500 by Heylo is very efficient with its high air performance of 3,200m³/h and can be used in many different ways by connecting up to 3 hoses and using different filters. Mix up a solution of sugar soap as recommended by the manufacturer. Typically 50ml for 4 litres of water for general cleaning and double this for more stubborn areas. Use a soft sponge in the same way as you would for warm soapy water and clean off with clean, warm water. Spot clean with baking soda To clean and dust delicate ornaments, antique pieces, silk flowers or small delicate trinkets, lightly mist a small paintbrush or makeup brush and use that to do this detailed cleaning. Pro Tip: Dust In the Right Direction

Particles that evade elimination in the nose or throat tend to settle in the sacs or close to the end of the airways. But if the amount of dust is large, the macrophage system may fail. Dust particles and dust-containing macrophages collect in the lung tissues, causing injury to the lungs. When old and crumbly lime plaster is disturbed, it can release dust particles into the air. This dust can contain various potentially harmful dust like silica and lime dust. Silica can cause lung damage and respiratory problems, and lime dust is alkaline in nature, which can cause skin, eye and respiratory irritation. Dust on your walls can be very annoying. It seems like dust can appear just about anywhere, but it can be particularly annoying on hard-to-reach walls and ceilings. For the best results, you’ll also likely want to amend your current cleaning routine, too, says cleaning expert Carolyn Forté, executive director of the Home Care & Cleaning Lab at the Good Housekeeping Institute. According to her, you should be dusting your furniture once per week and doing a deeper dust — think light fixtures and blinds — once per month. Every three to six months, you'll also want to clean under and behind furniture, vacuum mattresses and wash pillows and comforters. Remove any newly-revealed stains or mould with a baking soda paste, hydrogen peroxide, or a chemical mould-killing solution (for more serious concerns). And don't forget about your air conditioner filters — whether it's a window unit or a central air system, routine AC cleaning and maintenance is key to the performance and longevity of the unit. Always follow your unit's manufacturer cleaning recommendations, but you can usually wash removable foam window air-conditioning filters in hot soapy water, rinse well and air-dry before reinstalling. We’re going to be honest: if you’ve tried all these steps and there’s still paint on your wall, you’re a cleaning deity with secrets we’d like you to impart. However, if you’re a mere mortal like the rest of us, you likely need to touch up the area with some leftover paint from its original coat. If you don’t have any, we highly recommend repainting your walls with a more durable product. Mix a cup of baking soda with half a cup of water to form a paste (think ‘toothpaste’ consistency).

Additionally, if you plan to apply new lime plaster over old plaster, it is important to ensure that the old plaster is in good condition and not loose or damaged. If it is, it should be removed before applying new plaster. After you have finished working with old lime plaster, it is important to clean up the dust to prevent it from spreading and causing harm. Here are some tips for cleaning up lime plaster dust: Remove heavy dust from ceiling, floor or appliance vents with a soft-brush vacuum attachment or electrostatic mop, like the Swiffer Sweeper). (You can also use a long-handled microfiber duster.) Then, dampen a microfiber cloth and wipe the surface.

Dust only becomes truly visible when a lot has collected in an area. Dust also often collects on things such as cobwebs. Dusting regularly will remove these and will result in your walls appearing dust-free. Besides macrophages, the lungs have another system for the removal of dust. The lungs can react to the presence of germ-bearing particles by producing certain proteins. These proteins attach to particles to neutralize them. Use a soft sponge and rub gently over the walls using a soap and water mixture. Scrub small areas at a time and be sure to rinse away the soapy mixture with some lukewarm water once the scrubbing on each area is complete. Dust extraction systems are typically used to improve the air quality when using tools that generate a lot of dust – and are an excellent solution for ensuring a clean, dust-free working environment. However, they don’t just keep your area clean whilst working, they improve safety and protect your machinery by removing dust and shavings.

These tubes are called bronchi and bronchioles. All of these airways are lined by cells. The mucus they produce catches most of the dust particles. Tiny hairs called cilia, covering the walls of the air tubes, move the mucus upward and out into the throat, where it is either coughed up and spat out, or swallowed. If you are working with old lime plaster, it is important to know the potential health hazards associated with the dust it can produce. Lime plaster dust can contain harmful materials such as silica, lime dust, and even mould spores. Silica dust, in particular, can cause serious lung diseases such as silicosis, lung cancer, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Dust Containment Systems can be used for a wide range of job types, from small kitchen renovations to large restoration jobs. Regardless of the size, these easy steps and tips will help keep dust and airborne particles contained, improving air quality and reducing cleanup time. Step One
