I was gifted this book recently and did not realise straight away that it was book 19 of the series, which I almost put aside the book as I didn’t want to start a book for from the end and completely miss the whole picture. But I decided I could give the book a read see if I like the style of writing, the story… and if I would want to get the rest of the series and as it was the first book I’ve read by Elle in the series I had to take time adjusting to who’s who connected to, but the family tree at the beginning of the book was a huge help. But honestly the book was a very easy read, I loved the family dynamics, connections, friends knitting together through the tough times and that there is support systems continually being built, .. I love Peggy’s heart in wanting to bring everyone under her wings, hard working and yet always there for her family, friends and for those she has adopted. Ellie Dean is a huge lover of wide-ranging multi-generational historical fiction in addition to thrillers and detective fiction. As such, she can often be found reading the likes of Kate Mosse, Edward Rutherford, and Ken Follett.
