An issue that could make it impossible to set series recordings for some programmes. This happened when the T2•R received two regional variations of the same channel, e.g. BBC One SE at 1 and BBC One LON at 800. This did not affect channels with +1 (e.g. ITV & ITV+1) or HD alternatives (e.g. ITV & ITV HD), only regional variations.

The device doesn’t have to be on to record – as long as it’s connected, and on standby, it’ll record everything you set it to, at the right time. With dual tuners, it can record up to two simultaneous programmes on two different channels. If you try to record a program on a THIRD channel, the T2-R’s smart recording function will try to find a different time when that programme is on – and record it then. The Automatic Service Update (ASU) previously took place every time the T2-R entered standby. It now takes place only once overnight. If you connect the device to the internet, you’ll also get a few additional Freeview features and channels – the BBC’s red-button for example, or the “Box Nation” pay-tv channel. The interface is beautiful and most importantly – fast. The “smart” recording features are useful, and navigating your recordings is easy. Picture quality is great, but – as always – depends a lot on your aerial reception. The T2•R can also be manually set to a resolution in the Picture & Sound section of the Settings menu. This could cause an issue if you set a resolution (e.g. 1080p), then move the T2•R to another TV that doesn't support that resolution.

During initial setup the Confirm Your PIN step has been updated to make it clearer you need to re-enter your PIN. (1.09)

That’s a bit of a shame, since people who have older TVs – ones that don’t have Freeview built-in – are exactly the right audience for this box, so having to buy another adapter is a bit of a hassle. An issue that could stop programmes being set to record that are on now on a service that does not broadcast 24/7 (e.g. BBC FOUR). The recording could only be scheduled after changing to a service on the same multiplex. The system can now be restarted in the System Settings menu and by pressing: Red - 0 - Red - Standby. When RF Loop Through in Standby was enabled in the System section of Settings, disturbances in the output could be observed for a few minutes after entering standby.

Your T2•R will update automatically overnight whilst in standby, as long as you haven't disabled automatic updates in the System Settings menu The instruction text in the Channels Editor (e.g. used for editing Favourites) could incorrectly say ‘select channel’ when it should say ‘deselect channel’ and vice versa. Fixed an issue whereby the volume could not be adjusted on non-HD channels when the ‘Audio Output’ in Picture & Sound Settings was set to ‘Surround’.Moved ‘Edit Protected Channels’ and ‘Show/Hide Protected Channels’ into their own ‘Protected Channels’ sub-menu of the Channels menu. Cadbury Gifts Clarks Complete Unity Yoga Converse Crampton & Moore Outlet Crocs Currys Currys Clearance It was not possible to set an instant recording on a channel immediately after using an MHEG red button service on that channel. It was still possible to record from the Channel Banner or TV Guide.

In addition to Smart Retune, Full Retune can now be chosen from the Tuning section of Settings. The Full Retune completely removes the existing channel database and is necessary when the T2-R is moved to a new region (e.g. when moving home). Manhattan menus can now be used when using interactive services with video, like 211 Ketchup TV and 265 Planet Knowledge. Previously you needed to exit the service or change the channel first. (1.09) The TR-2 also continuously records the channel you’re on right now – up to two hours. That means you can live-pause anything you’re watching (when you get that important phone call, for example), and you can also decide you want to record and keep a show you’re watching – even after it had started. Watching Recorded Content Press the GUIDE button on your remote control. This displays the TV Guide, making it easy to tell when you find the right input.

Manhattan T2-R 500GB Freeview HD Recorder Reviews

However, if you love flipping live channels, but still want to record programmes and watch them on your own time – then a box like the Manhattan T2-R can be perfect for you, with no-fuss smart recording capabilities and a big hard drive. Designed in the UK by Manhattan, the T2-R gives you an exceptional and easy-to-use Freeview HD TV experience. You can pause and rewind live TV, record two channels at the same time, and record an entire series, using its 8-day TV guide and Learning Remote control. Its 500GB of storage holds up to 300 hours of content, smartly organised into categories and series. While most Freeview channels are still unfortunately in Standard Definition, there are 15 HD channels – so if you set a recording of an SD show that also has an HD version on the equivalent channel, the TR-2 will automatically record the HD version, which is a nice touch. I remember getting my first PVR fifteen years ago – a Pace Twin with a 20GB hard drive, rendered useless a few years later by technical changes to the terrestrial broadcast platform. Around the same time the Pace Twin was in retailers, a company called Eurosat was supplying digital satellite receivers under the Manhattan brand to enthusiasts via a network of specialist dealers.
