The Lighthouse is run by its Director, Sarah Stewart, assisted by a brilliant freelance team. Sarah Stewart

Sarah is a terrific editor. She understood the story I wanted to tell and helped me make it the best it could be. Mizz was first published in April 1985. In March 2006 the magazine was sold by IPC Media to Panini UK. The magazine was published on a fortnightly basis until 2012 when its frequency was changed to monthly. Elsewhere in the show, Holly also admitted that she was left "hurt"by the recent reports that she is set to leave the ITV weekday show. One of its first teen writers was future children's author Jacqueline Wilson, who joined the staff age 17, and models featured in its photostories and fashion shoots over the years included Garbage's Shirley Manson, newsreader Fiona Bruce, Hugh Grant and Leslie Ash. It also featured weekly pullout pop posters and a Silly Star File, a section that focused on light-hearted interviews. As Fiction Editor at Scholastic Children’s Books, she acquired the best-selling Tom Gates series by Liz Pichon (winner of the Roald Dahl Funny Prize, the Red House Book Award, and the Waterstone’s Prize, and now translated into 36 languages). She was UK editor on The Hunger Games and the Captain Underpants series, and edited Dan Freedman’s Jamie Johnson series (now a CBBC TV show). Mizz was first published in April 1985. [2] Previously, Sarah was Senior Editor at Floris Books where she acquired The Nowhere Emporium (winner of the Blue Peter Best Story Award 2016 and the Scottish Children’s Book Award 2016), Thorfinn The Nicest Viking (shortlisted for the Laugh Out Loud awards) and The Fourth Bonniest Baby in Dundee (shortlisted for the Bookbug Picture Book Prize).

Tavi Gevinson first came to public attention as a 12-year-old with her precocious fashion blog Style Rookie in 2008. The blog, written from her home in middle-class suburban Chicago, soon had tens of thousands of readers, and led to Gevinson being interviewed by the New York Times, attending the world's biggest fashion weeks and modelling for cult US brand Rodarte. Mizz readers could post comments in this section of the magazine. They usually talked about celebrities, brilliant sections of the magazine or stuff that they really like. A Star Letter was chosen every fortnight. The writer of the Star Letter used to get a T-shirt. You could also post "text messages" and say "hi" to your friends. Other sections of the Say What? section were "Get It Or Regret It" section which show items that the editor likes, a "Top Pet" section which readers show their pets and a "Sizzlin and Fizzlin" Sarah also spent ten years as a journalist and magazine editor, writing for a wide range of publications, from The Guardian to Mizz magazine. She was a UNESCO City of Literature Writer in Residence in Krakow in 2017, and she is currently a mentor for All Stories, working with underrepresented writers who are unable to pay for support. EndorsementsThe Lighthouse were brilliant at shepherding me in the right direction. Sarah could have pointed out the million things wrong with my book, but instead she identified what was working, where I needed to hone my craft, and where my writing came alive.
