Description

Both the Citiz and the Pixie have an adjustable drip tray that you can move up and down to accommodate various sizes of cups. Don’t forget to periodically clean out the drip tray! Regardless of whether you choose the Nespresso Pixie or the Nespresso Citiz, you’ll get a delicious cup of coffee. Brewing time and sizes

For this last point in our comparison of Nespresso machines, it’s purely an aesthetics discussion rather than anything to do with functionality. Another water reservoir-related difference between the Pixie and the Citiz is that the Pixie has a red light indicator that comes on when the water reservoir is low on water. The CitiZ has no such indicator, and you’d just have to eyeball it before brewing some coffee to make sure there is enough. The Pixie has a low water indicator to help with water management. It is less expensive, so if you don’t mind the minor inconvenience of refilling the water and emptying the spent capsule bin more often, you can save some money by buying the Pixie. At first glance, they probably seem very similar to you, and they are in many ways. However, some key differences can have a significant effect on your brewing experience. Below, we’re comparing these two machines so you can decide which is a better option for you. My model doesn’t have milk frothing, but you can add an Aeroccino at any point, or spend a bit more on the CitiZ&Milk, which has an Aeroccino built-in – although it does mean the overall footprint of the coffee machine is bigger and hence it will take up a bit more space.

This is one of Nespresso’s mid-range options, offering a balance of cost and features. You won’t get all of the features available in premium models, but the price is hard to argue with. Settings Very Protect - Replace insurance excludes some situations including not following the manufacturer’s instructions and wilful neglect. Further Relevant Information Pour your drink into our sleek, slim travel mugs and enjoy it in your car, whilst commuting, or at the office. Durable and reusable, their leakproof screw-top lids help prevent spills. And their non-slip grip and extra insulation make them comfortable to hold. You can browse and buy your favourite blends and intensities at Nespresso Boutiques located in the following John Lewis & Partners shops: Heating up in just 25 seconds, the Nespresso Citiz uses Nespresso capsules, which contain the perfect amount of freshly roasted and ground coffee for a true barista experience at home.

Measuring my shot of espresso, it was delivered at 60.1ºC, which is just about right: sufficiently hot, but cool enough to drink straight away. Some people complain about Nespresso machines not being hot enough – but this one, for certain, works at exactly the right temperature. With higher volumes of coffee, such as a lungo, the final temperature was a bit hotter at 73ºC – again, this is just about spot on. OriginalLine brewers work with Nespresso capsules, refillable capsules, as well as a whole host of third-party compatible capsules from other manufacturers. The Pixie has a more modern design with aluminum siding. It looks a lot more futuristic, and would fit very well in any modern kitchen.Yes, though the CitiZ will only provide the espresso. You’ll need a separate milk frother ( or a whisk and some arm strength) to complete your creamy latte. The basic model of this coffee maker doesn’t include any milk accessories, but you can opt for the CitiZ&Milk, which comes bundled with Nespresso’s Aeroccino milk frother. The Aeroccino comes built into the side, and you’ll get it for about half the cost of buying it separately. This could be a great option if you like lattes but don’t have the budget for pricier models like the Lattissima or the Creatista. The CitiZ is well-built overall, with a slim footprint that will fit on even a crowded kitchen counter. It comes in four colors, including a vibrant red, and features a removable cup tray for smaller cups. It’s an elegant machine with a high-end feel.

The CitiZ is a fairly streamlined espresso maker, so it doesn’t overflow with extra features. Of course, that also means it’s easy to use. Good news for your early-morning brain! It was the same for the lungo, too, with the 110ml being delivered consistently regardless of the capsule used. Would you be lost without this product? If it breaks, we’ll aim to replace it within 2 days with no excess to pay. It’s important to note that both machines feel very durable and are equally as capable, so these differences are strictly aesthetic. Searching for one of the best coffee machines? Go for our Nespresso machines for a unique coffee experience. Their single-serve technology offers the original espresso, whilst a Vertuo model offers the full range of coffee styles. A De'Longhi coffee machine or a Tassimo coffee machine also features a range of preparation styles and designs—from traditional and contemporary to filter and espresso. It’s worth noting that the Pixie is a newer model, which is why it has the upgraded indicator. The absence of a larger water reservoir also means the Pixie has a slightly smaller footprint than the Citiz. Size It will also make a note of how much volume you extracted and will extract the same amount from a single touch of the button going forward. Fancy making signature blends? Then go for a coffee machine with a grinder or a coffee grinder to indulge your inner connoisseur. Our coffee grinders come in various sizes, allowing you to grind a single cup or brew a batch for a cafetière. Filter coffee machines can be used to strain your fresh grinds. Keep your brew bubbling with a hot plate and enjoy the aroma of freshly ground coffee all day long. When comparing the Citiz vs the Pixie, you can see that the differences are quite minimal, if any. Unless the water reservoir size is extremely important to you, you can go with the Pixie or the Citiz and you’ll be a happy camper, as both are superb espresso machines that produce the best capsule coffee, period. As a pod machine, maintenance is at a minimum. Aside from emptying the capsules when the container is full, you’ll need to regularly wash out the drip dray. Regular Nespresso machines such as this one tend to drip quite a bit, so the tray can become quite dirty. The larger Nespresso Vertuo Next uses different pods that are spun at the end to prevent dripping. Vertuo is a different experience, built around larger mug-fulls of coffee, so may not suit your needs.

Both the Pixie and the Citiz are made for Nespresso by Breville and DeLonghi. Functionally, they’re both the same machine. If you shop around a little, you may be able to get one manufacturer’s model for a little cheaper than the other one.

The Citiz and Pixie are both standalone brewers, which means there is no milk frother built in. Depending on where you choose to buy from, you may be able to get an Aeroccino milk frother with the coffee machine as part of a bundle deal. Nespresso Citiz vs Pixie: differences
