Description

I am quite short, but manage to carry it short distances fairly easily. It weighs 13 kilograms which is not too heavy, but because of the size I can't see myself carrying it anywhere other than to and from the car. Which really should be all you need. So, what does the Gozney Roccbox have that the Ooni Karu 12 doesn't? Well, first up are its stylish good looks. The Roccbox features a smart stainless steel cylinder chamber wrapped in eye-catching silicone that also helps to make the oven's outer safe to the touch.

I never knew I was missing a raclette grill from my life until I tested out the Progress Stone Raclette Grill. I love cheese and I love melting cheese – the very core of what a raclette grill is. These are smaller pizza ovens that are generally made from stainless steel. This makes them perfect for outdoor use (assuming the material is of good quality) because they are durable, strong, and resist rust and corrosion from the elements. They are also known to retain heat very well and provide an even cooking temperature. The main advantage to gas-powered pizza ovens is how low-maintenance they are by comparison: there’s no prep or waiting time, and no ashes to clean away afterwards. Instead, all you’ll need to do is attach a butane or propane canister. Also, the temperature of a gas pizza oven can be adjusted with the simple turn of a dial, although as explained, this isn’t essential. What else can be cooked in a pizza oven? These are great if you have a small garden and aren’t planning to cook pizza on occasion. These lightweight gadgets can often reach impressive high temperatures and feature foldable legs, meaning you can easily store it indoors or in a shed. Freestanding pizza ovens

Setting up the Woody is mostly straightforward as the main body is assembled and has the legs attached, meaning you just need to flip them out to get the oven standing up. Suitable for use with wood and gas, the Roccbox is an incredibly stylish and portable outdoor pizza oven. Its compact size and easy set-up makes it ideal for al fresco dining whether you’re in the garden or camping. The oven is almost fully assembled straight out of the box and it comes with pretty much everything you need to get started, with the exception of the fuel itself. Next, you have to secure the hopper which is easily done with some small bolts and an Allen key (all included). The chimney slots into place, so no construction needed here and you only need to install the cap when out of use. Then you need to attach the handle and thermometer to the removable door, and build the pellet box and burner grate. Even a DIY novice can do this all in around 20 minutes by following the instructions that you receive once you've scanned the QR code. With the pizza stone in place, you're ready to go.Charcoal or wood-fired pizza ovens are better for flavour, adding an extra layer of smokiness to your pizza. It's nice and lightweight, weighing just under 6kg. You'll also be able to eep an eye on the heat thanks to the thermometer and when the pizza is ready, lift it out ready to serve up with the provided pizza paddle. When tested with the gas burner, the Roccbox reached its maximum temperature of 500ºC in around 30-45 minutes. 12in pizzas cooked in around 60 seconds, sometimes less and the result was excellent, with a well cooked base and crispy crust. Unfortunately, the Roccbox struggled to reach the maximum temperature using the wood burner. It also required a lot of wood to stay hot and struggled to stay at a consistent temperature without regular tending. This meant pizzas took longer to cook but the results were still authentic and delicious. You also need to think about the type of fuel it’ll use and whether this will affect the flavour of your pizza. The Ooni Fyra works by first adding fuel through the hatch then lighting it. From there, the air flows through the vents while the fuel (pellets) burn, generating fire/hot air. The hot air heats the pizza oven. Your food is cooked via radiating heat.

You can also get electric pizza ovens, which are for indoor use and are generally much smaller. There are two types of electric pizza ovens - ones that look like a smaller version of a regular oven and ones that look like a pan with a hood over the top. We tested one out over the course of a month, and by the end of the testing period, we found ourselves using it as much as our normal oven. Safety: Pizzas require incredibly high temperatures to cook so we looked for excellent insulation and safety features to make using the pizza oven easy to use. Wood pellets are also sensitive to humidity and moisture, which can make them expand and jam your hopper. All wood pellets should be kept in a sealed, dry container with a tight-fitting lid to remain moisture-free. Things to ConsiderCan’t I just cook pizza in a regular oven or in a cast-iron pan? Of course and you can achieve some great results too with the right techniques. However, unless you have a proper pizza oven, you’ll never be able to duplicate that authentic wood-fired taste in exactly the same way. The largest of Ooni's multi-fuel pizza ovens, the Ooni Karu 16 Multi-Fuel Pizza Oven is an investment, but as long as your budget will stretch, we think it's worth it.

Technically, the Gozney Roccbox is also more portable, coming equipped with a strap to help you transport it with ease. With its compact size and easily retractable legs, it might make a good option for the beach as long as you can drive it there, as at 29kg, it's probably a little heavy to carry. It can be difficult to gauge exactly how much space you need to set up a pizza oven, especially if you're new to this type of outdoor cooking. Frankly, we can't get enough of the Delivita Pizza Oven. If we had the money, we'd buy one without hesitation. Ooni pizza ovens have consistently been a favorite among people who want a great-tasting pizza. They are known for their quality, durability, and sleek design. Ooni’s motto is also that everyone deserves a great pizza. Slide the pizza in, then close the door. Turn the pizza after 30 seconds by lifting the door off and sliding the peel in. Give the pizza a 180° turn. Return the pizza to the oven and close your door. The entire setup was easy to follow. Once I’d given the whole set a gentle wipe clean, all I needed to do was place all the pans under the grill and turn on the heat. The instructions said the heating to the optimum temperature would take 20 minutes which is the perfect amount of time to get my charcuterie and cheese board ready and presentable. However, for the price point, it does everything you need for delicious pizza and offers an affordable way to get your hands on the versatility of a multi-fuel pizza oven, so we think it's definitely an option worth considering. Including four stainless steel serving spatulas and a convenient terracotta cover, this pizza maker is great for some family fun. You can hand wash the pizza stone too if preferred. If you do, you must use nothing but warm water, then dry it in a conventional oven at a very low temperature for at least two hours. The stones are slightly absorbent which is how they create such a crispy base, drawing water from the dough as the pizza cooks. This means that if the stone is not fully dry before cooking, you could damage it, or find the temperature is compromised. When it comes to your pizza oven, it is best to use hardwoods. Since they come from deciduous trees, they tend to be denser and produce less sap over softwood. This allows them to be heavier leading to a steady, hot, long-lasting burn.
