Letting fresh air in if meeting indoors, or meeting outside to disperse COVID-19 particles and reduce the risk of spreading the virus. Face covering Additional existing e-learning sessions on administration, storage and legal aspects of vaccination can be undertaken depending on role, previous training and experience. These are available as part of the e-LfH Immunisation programme. Training slide set The health service made history when Margaret Keenan received the jab at Coventry a year ago, launching the NHS vaccination programme, the world’s first national effort to protect people against the virus.

But to achieve something on this scale, we need your help. So today I’m issuing a call for volunteers to join our national mission to get jabs in arms. The first four cohorts to be vaccinated are: residents in a care home for older adults and their carers; all those aged 80 years and over, and frontline health and social care workers; people aged 75 years and over; and everyone aged 70 years and over, and clinically extremely vulnerable individuals.

You must wait until 3 months (91 days) between the date of your second dose before going for your booster vaccine. You will be offered the right vaccine for you which may be the same or different from the vaccines that you had before. Side effect symptoms are generally mild and will usually last one to two days. Some people can experience them for longer - up to one week. Last week the NHS announced a recruitment drive for 10,000 paid vaccinators and support staff and that it will also work with the Royal Voluntary Service and St. John Ambulance to recruit a further 40,000 volunteers for roles such as admin and stewarding queues.

If you have never been vaccinated before, or if you only had one dose, you can still get your seasonal vaccination. You only need one COVID-19 vaccination during the seasonal period (if you are aged 5 or over). It must be at least 3 months (91 days) since your last COVID-19 vaccination. PHE guidance for health and care professionals about receiving the vaccines can be accessed here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-vaccination-guide-for-healthcare-workers/covid-19-vaccination-guide-for-healthcare-workers This document sets out the recommendations for training a workforce who are knowledgeable and able to confidently, competently and safely deliver the COVID-19 vaccine programme at pace. These recommendations are intended to complement the recommendations made for training the COVID-19 vaccinator workforce by NHS England.

If you, or someone you know might have Covid-19, the advice is to stay at home and arrange to have a Covid test. The NHS and the country needs you once again – you can play a key role in helping us to save many more lives”. In addition to acquiring theoretical knowledge, it is essential that new vaccinators develop clinical skills, competency and confidence in immunisation. Consideration should be given as to how this training can most effectively take place. The importance and benefits of work-based training and experience should not be underestimated – see section below for further explanation. Partnership working between multiple stakeholders, and giving communities greater ownership, alongside an evidence-based, tailored approach to different subgroups have been critical. This programme has also been responsive to developing needs and review of the data. Successful approaches for some subgroups did not have the same impact in others. The programme has deepened its understanding of the challenges both in accessibility and acceptability of vaccination for these populations, and routes of engagement. It’s recognised that maximising uptake must remain a priority, and evaluation work will feed into this, and other vaccination/healthcare programmes.Prime Minister Boris Johnson and NHS Chief Executive Amanda Pritchard have joined forces to issue a rallying cry for thousands of volunteers to come forward and support the NHS booster campaign.

Revised wording of COVID-19 vaccine appointment text message invitations from PCNs using more positively-framed language and translated to 8 languages. New vaccinators should be supervised and supported by experienced, competent and knowledgeable vaccinators (see section below). Consideration should be given as to whether there are any particular groups who would be more appropriately vaccinated by experienced vaccinators. Administrative support staff All new vaccinators, and those returning to immunisation after a prolonged interval, should complete a competency assessment for formal assessment and sign-off of their clinical competency. They should be supervised administering the vaccine until both they, and their supervisor or trainer, feel confident that they have the necessary knowledge and skills to administer vaccines safely and competently. Before you leave your appointment, you'll receive a vaccination leaflet to take home with information about the Covid-19 vaccine you received, and what to expect after your vaccination.
