About me I've been playing piano on and off since I was around 5 and I've played pretty much exclusively on acoustic grands, baby grands, and uprights from Steinway, Baldwin, and Yamaha. I've never owned or really extensively played on DPs. I'm also coming off of a long hiatus (3+ years) of not playing because I moved into my own place and didn't have access to a piano. I play mostly classical.

The Donner DDP-80 digital piano is a great choice for anyone looking for a high-quality instrument that has all the features they need. It’s a good solution for beginners and experienced players alike. The disadvantages of the Donner DDP-80 digital piano The DDP-80’s cabinet design is unique, with its sleek brown wooden casing and mid-century styling. The four flared-out slimline legs and flat top surface add to its vintage appeal. generic sustain pedal port (if you’d like to just use a generic sustain pedal as opposed to the included triple pedal unit); the included triple pedal connects to a separate port on the bottom of the piano. Even though I never use the soft and sostenudo pedals myself, I do quite like the feel of the included sustain pedal, and even though it’s bigger than a standalone sustain pedal, it’s still totally portable if you want. We’d call the DDP-80’s sound acceptable rather than stellar. It’s bright, but with a slightly synthetic tone that you don’t get on the absolute top-end digital pianos. The keyboard is reasonably playable, if a little clunky and loud at times - if you’ve got the volume turned down fairly low the sound of the keys can be a little distracting.

Rear and bottom panels: MIDI USB, sustain pedal, power line, audio output, headphone, 3-pedal unit cable port, volume control, power switch (goes to standby automatically if nobody plays for 30 minutes) The retro-inspired cabinet and beautiful woodgrain appearance capture creativity at its finest. The DDP-80 stands out from other digital pianos on the market. It boasts bold, mid-century styling and flared-out slimline legs. Its orangey-brown wooden casing adds a touch of warmth to any space.

With its unique and bold design, the DDP-80+ digital piano stands out from other models, such as the Yamaha P-45or the Alesis Prestige. The keys are surprisingly balanced and weighted appropriately. My one fear with the DDP-80 +was that the keys would feel extraordinarily clunky and poorly weighted. This wasn’t the case, and they played well even near the pivot points. To be very clear with you, I found no critical aspects that would create doubt in the product. The product was easy to assemble in a few minutes, and the quality of the product feels very sophisticated and good. Just to be fair, I would, however, just mention some thoughts I was having about the DDP-80 that might not be a fit for the advantages paragraphs above. Kindly consider the following aspects as my personal opinion as well, though, and it’s possible that these might not be an issue for you at all. to the instructions. ( Donner US Customer Team is here to help you with any assembly or usage issues. Roland PHA4 (Roland FP-10, FP-30x): I think it has a similar weight, but since this is only a dual sensor, the Roland triple sensor action with escapement, will still be a much more realistic action

Conclusion I bought this piano out of necessity because it met my price, size, and aesthetic requirements. If given the choice, more budget, and space I definitely would have bought something better from a reputable brand. In the future, I'm probably going to sell it and upgrade to something better (hopefully acoustic) when we're able to move out. I also wanted to write this review because there aren't many out there on the DDP-80 and it's one of the first ads that comes up when you search for it so a lot of new players might be tempted to buy it.The soft pedal has the function of moving the hammers closer to the strings, so that the hammers can’t strike the strings as hard and produce a sound as loud. Basically you’d use it whenever you have to play a note softly. You can also use it when accompanying a singer and you don’t want the piano sound to be as loud. If size really is at a premium (or perhaps you're looking for something that does a little more than basic piano emulation) then the Yamaha Piaggero NP-12 fills a much-needed gap in the market.

Shopping for a digital piano in 2023 can be overwhelming. Some of us know what all these features and details mean. Some of us don’t! A simple, easy-to-use, affordable piano with minimal fussis needed in the current market. With USB MIDI connectivity, you can connect the piano to your computer or other MIDI-compatible devices for recording or accessing additional sounds. There are two types of acoustic pianos that fit into this category, grand pianos and upright pianos. The keys of the Donner DDP-80, don’t have too much in common with those of a grand piano. They have a certain degree of similarity with those of an upright piano, in that they behave similarly but they can’t possibly feel exactly the same due to the materials they’re made of. An upright piano has wood key action whereas the DDP-80, like many other models in this price range, has a plastic key action. So, they weren’t completely wrong, it’s just a case of over-selling. This doesn’t make it bad, I just felt the need be more specific about the details. YouTube: Modern Home Aesthetic & Classic Piano Quality, Donner DDP-80 Digital Piano丨Donner Spotlight (Promotional Demo Footage)Everything was sounding great until I turned the volume down. And that’s when the weaknesses started to show. The speaker system was reproducing a very nice, ample sound when turned up. It was capable of rendering clarity, dynamic range and fill the room easily. But if you actually didn’t want the entire family to stop and listen to you play, and you just want to practice at lower volume, you lose on expressiveness. This is not an uncommon trait on lower priced digital pianos. The Roland FP-10 is known for its exceptional sound quality and rich and authentic piano tone. It utilizes Roland’s SuperNATURAL sound engine, which provides a more realistic and expressive playing experience. The Donner DDP-80 digital piano is an electronic keyboard that simulates the sound and feel of a traditional acoustic piano. It has weighted keys that mimic the resistance of a real piano and pedals that allow for sustain, vibrato, and other effects. I think it’s fair to say that the Donner DDP-80 digital piano is a good choice for beginners and experienced players alike. It is undoubtedly more affordable than an actual piano but still allows you to practice and play without worrying too much about technical challenges. Aesthetics The piano does look nice and kind of "classes up" the place. It has a nice wood finish and it's made from particle board. Donner kind of misleads you into thinking it was handcrafted and made from solid wood but...it's definitely not. The color looks a little different in person than the pictures online. The one I received has a darker, more reddish kind of wood grain but I think it looks nice. When it comes to talking about whether you should buy the DDP-80 you have to start with the design. In our view, it’s a breath of fresh air in what is, aesthetically, a fairly conservative market, but we’re aware it won’t be to everyone’s taste.
