A similarly sized grinder, and also another very popular grinder is the Breville Smart Grinder Pro. Also, sometimes I feel like I’m a little bit too close to the zero point where the burrs are touching. It mostly happens when I’m grinding Scandinavian espresso beans for the Robot – this requires an ultra-fine grind – then I’m pretty close to burr rub. Filtro and Crono are meant for filter and drip coffee. Rather than a portafilter holder, they have a grounds bin, which indicates they are for brew coffee rather than espresso. The Silenzio is for espresso. If you are used to a Baratza, Smart Grinder Pro, etc. you might use your grinder for more than just espresso. While this can do more than just espresso, it is designed to be a dedicated espresso grinder. I find this as a pro! but some might not. Historically, almost all of the espresso had huge hoppers. However, adding a bunch of beans to the hopper is kind of dated here in 2020.

Relatively mess free. Some loose grounds might fall out, but is far less messy than many. For me, I had no static issues. This is really what you're looking for when grinding for espresso, nice fluffy grinds without clumping – and this is what I experienced with the Mignon Specialita, lovely fluffy clump free grounds. If you’re looking for a dedicated grinder to bring your espresso to the next level, it’s tough to beat the Mignon Specialita. The level of fine-tuning, quiet grinding, consistency, and sleek aesthetic makes it my top choice for pulling the perfect shot. The complexity it produces in the cup is more desirable to me than other grinders that pursue clarity at the cost of balance. Most old-school espresso grinders retain quite a bit of coffee every time you grind. To mitigate that issue, it’s common to purge a few grams every time you touch the settings or some time has passed.

The DF64 is also a stepless flat burr grinder. It’s designed as a single-dose grinder as opposed to the Mignon Specialita’s hopper. There are three major advantages that the DF64 has over the Mignon Specialita: versatility, grind retention, and value. Specialitais a premium grinder and the main subject of this article. It has 55mm flat burrs and a touchscreen, as we detailed earlier. Well, there are a few things that are not perfect. The adjustment wheel here is pretty handy, but sometimes I wish that it was bigger and had some more numbers to make it easier to remember different settings for different beans and espresso machines. Another noteworthy feature of the Specialita is that it is an extremely quiet grinder, thanks to the motor being carefully cased in noise insulation. This is a significant advantage, especially if you’re grinding beans early in the morning. You can grind without waking the whole house.

The internals are what set this apart. The large 55mm burrs provide a consistent grind sizeThe powerful 310W motor spins at 1350 RPM and grinds coffee to a fine and fluffy texture with minimal clumping. The grind consistency creates an espresso with a rich body, subtle clarity, and syrupy sweetness. Then, the Mignon Specialita allows for precise dialing in with a stepless adjustment dial located next to the bean hopper. The tilted base is an easy way to overcome the one major complaint with the grind quality. Flavor Profile and Use Cases I think when it comes to top-notch domestic espresso grinders (that are still affordable), at the moment, it’s mainly a discussion between the Sette, the Niche Zero, and the Specialita. Original Post: I changed from my trusty old Baratza Sette 270 to the Eureka Mignon Specialita yesterday. While I conceed that the machine has a fair bit of heft and excellent build quality, I find the usability of the Baratza Sette is far superior. Eureka Mignon is one of the top household automatic grinders on the market. Specialita is the newest and the highest version of the Mignon range. The grinder is compact and suitable for various brewing methods, from espresso to French press, and provides consistent grinding. The Eureka Mignon Brew Pro is a device worth considering if you’d rather grind for filter coffee because it’s built for coarser grounds. However, if you prefer to make specialty coffee, consider a hand grinder as that will make things simpler for home brewing. Noise

The Eureka Mignon Specialita Coffee Grinder features a crisp new touch-screen with 2 Programmable doses, total control of grinding time and also a continuous mode.In my opinion, this is one of the most gorgeous models out there. It looks like an espresso grinder, but it has something more modern about it, with that square-shaped hopper. Since this is a flat burr grinder, you get some additional clarity in the cup. Compared to conical grinders like the Jx Pro, I definitely feel like there are some additional nuances in the cup. First, the dial knob comes with no calibration. The zero is not really a zero. Using the "Burr chirping" methods, I found my zero is at 4. So I started my dial-in process from there. Most domestic brewers only make a couple of espresso shots a day. If your grinder holds onto several grams of coffee grounds each time you use it, they’ll need removing before grinding again. After all, not doing so would be to brew “fresh coffee” with some percentage of stale grounds. Being a small company we don't have nexus in many states. Does not include MI. You're certainly not going to wake anyone up by grinding coffee first thing in the morning, in fact, you could probably stand by the grinder and easily have a chat with the person stood next to you without having to raise your voice over the noise of the grinder. The Mignon is stylish. The model I reviewed had a polished case and modern design. It also comes in a variety of colors.

Eureka's patented Stepless Micrometric Regulation System, with infinite adjustment points. This is a unique grind adjustment system in that it's the lower burrs that are adjusted, which allows for maintenance without losing grind settings. The static was terrible, especially in the winter. These mostly plastic grinders just clung to the grounds and any chaff. The counter was usually a mess, there was a bit of waste. A definite annoyance. There's a timer on the Crono, allowing you to grind from 5 to 60 seconds, and you can also grind on demand by pushing and holding the grind button. Being made with brew methods in mind rather than espresso, the Crono comes with the transparent grinds basket, and not the portafilter prongs.
