Next we have Rainbow Six Siege and this is another older title which Pascal will be well optimized for. As a result the GTX 1080 Ti does really well, pumping out well over 300 fps at 1080p, placing it alongside the 5700 XT and RTX 3060. Discover next-generation VR performance, the lowest latency, and plug-and-play compatibility with leading headsets—driven by NVIDIA VRWorks™ technologies. VR audio, physics, and haptics let you hear and feel every moment. Anyway, we're not here to feed into your growing GPU depression, and maybe, just maybe we can put a positive spin on this one. Not sure how, but we'll work that out as we go...

gaming at 60 fps has long been considered the holy grail of PC gaming, and the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti was the closest we came up until Nvidia Turing launched a few years later. Getting a silky smooth gaming experience in Ultra HD will depend on which games you’re trying to play, though. s The Witcher 3 remains a favourite for gamers and system builders alike, as we evaluate performance by a good old-fashioned Roach ride through the muddy streets of Novigrad. The RTX 2080 Ti manages a solid result of 77fps on average, compared to 60fps for the RTX 2080 - a differential of around 22 per cent. The GTX 1080 Ti is also competitive at 64fps average, so it's another solid result for the older card here. The Witcher 3: Ultra, POST-AA, No Hairworks Now looking at the 5700 XT comparison at 1440p, we find that performance is a tie overall, which is probably more impressive for the Radeon GPU given it was quite a bit cheaper, though it did arrive two years later, so that's to be expected even in today's GPU market. Pascal works really well in God of War and here the GTX 1080 Ti can be seen delivering RTX 3060-like performance, making it slightly faster than the 5700 XT and RTX 2060 Super. A good result for the old GeForce GPU. What that means in terms of value for your money is that performance scales more in line with pricing. The 1080 Ti costs 40 percent more than the GTX 1080 and performs—in GPU limited scenarios—about 30-35 percent faster. The 1080 costs 43 percent more than the 1070 and outperforms it by about 25 percent—not perfectly linear scaling, but much better than the previous 60 percent price premium. And if you want to go further down the chain, the 1070 outperforms the 1060 6GB by about 40 percent, with a 46 percent price increase. There are a few other glimmers of positivity here. Nvidia is clearly transitioning significant portions of their GPU offerings to LHR GPUs, which are now forming the majority of sales for some graphics cards such as the RTX 3060 Ti. Even with the latest developments raising the LHR limit cap, these cards are more accessible and affordable for gamers. The LHR program has received its share of criticism, but it will be interesting to hear from actual users what you think of it now that it seems to be helping lower GPU prices.

The RTX 2080 Ti is far and away the best-performing graphics card on the market, delivering at least 60 frames per second at 4K in all but one of the games that we tested. By comparison, the GTX 1080 Ti only manages that feat in three of the games in our benchmark suite, and largely in older titles. We've chosen to evaluate performance in both of the recent Tomb Raider titles, with the first being 2016 release Rise of The Tomb Raider. This game's integrated benchmark remains a good test of GPU performance, although actual gameplay can be significantly more demanding. The RTX 2080 Ti is about 20 per cent ahead of the GTX 1080 Ti here, with an average score of 80fps for the RTX card compared to 63fps for the GTX 1080 Ti. The GTX 1080 Ti outperforms its closest RTX competitor here, although as we'll see that trend doesn't hold forever. Rise of the Tomb Raider: Very High, SMAA Budget: Considering certain things help to choose the right graphics card for your desktop PC, the first of which is your budget and use. Graphics cards are available in various tiers. Upper-tier cards will cost more in exchange for better graphics.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey

While RTX and DLSS are the two standout features of the new Turing graphics cards, they're far from the only new additions. Nvidia have also included new shading models, such as mesh shading, which allow graphics cards to have greater control over level of detail settings. That could result in performance gains without any regressions in image quality. Variable rate shading is another clever addition which focuses processing power on scene elements that players are likely to be looking at. A Wolfenstein 2 demo suggests that we could see a healthy 15 to 20 per percent frame-rate boost when the feature is enabled, although as usual, developers will need to specifically implement these new shaders in their games for the advantages to be realised. It's a similar story at 1440p, the 5700 XT had a slight performance advantage, but we're talking about a mere 5% difference.

In the GTX 1080 Ti vs. RTX 3060 comparison, at 1080p we find that on average the old GTX 1080 Ti is 3% faster on average. The former GeForce flagship enjoyed some pretty big wins, though admittedly most of them were in older games. We think it's fair to say all tested GPUs delivered more than enough frames in Death Stranding, even at 1440p, so the GTX 1080 Ti is holding on very well in this game, outpacing the RTX 3060 by a small margin at both resolutions. The Radeon 5700 XT continues to impress with surprisingly strong performance, beating the 1080 Ti by a 16% margin at 1080p and 12% at 1440p. There was a big push during the launch event about virtual reality. VR has grown in popularity among gamers and tech enthusiast; it therefore comes as no surprise that Nvidia’s event talked about the integration of the new GPUs within a virtual reality environment. Read our The main deal-maker for an AMD graphics card is its affordable price. For a more immersive gaming experience, AMD Graphics cards offer more VRAM to accommodate real-time visual data. The AMD GPU is also a superior choice as a gaming graphics card, as gamers enjoy more graphical prowess for fewer costs. AMD RADEON graphics card owners also benefit from their low thermal requirement and power draw. Overall, getting an AMD Radeon GPU can be your best GPU choice if you are on a budget and want the best performance. Top-tier RADEON cards like the RX 7900 XTX often outperform cards from the leaderboard due to its RDNA3 unified memory architecture. Intel Arc Graphics Card This graphics card is crafted with premium materials and components. It is also cooled by a radial fan, which has an advanced vapour chamber that is designed to deliver consistent performance even in the most thermally-challenging environments.Graphics cards are of two types - integrated and discrete. An Integrated GPU (iGPU) is the onboard Graphics Processing solution built into the CPU. On the other hand, a Discrete GPU or Dedicated Graphics Units (Cards) work by executing commands from the CPU but only handle graphical computations, significantly reducing stress from the PC processor. Since a CPU executes an unimaginable amount of tasks simultaneously, iGPUs are a better choice for personal to semi-professional uses. Gaming Graphics Card By contrast, all the games where the 1080 Ti lost by double-digit margins were released in the last two years. Overall though, these two GPUs are roughly on par in terms of performance. Affecting Ethereum mining this month was the rollout of the new EIP1559 protocol upgrade. If you wonder how this affects mining revenue, the answer is simple: due to the way it burns transaction fees, the upgrade reduces the payout to miners for processing transactions. Like with difficulty spikes, while the reward in Ethereum is now lower, the value of Ethereum has increased, so it's a tug-of-war situation.
