Monkey Business from Early Learning Centre is a fun game where players take turns to hang cheeky monkeys or gorillas on the tree. If you swing or bounce high enough, you’ll be able to soar through most of the course without grabbing onto any rings. Gather as much speed as you can at the start of the level to make flying through the obstacles a breeze. Insert the tree trunk into the base and attach the magnetic leaves to the tip of the palm tree. Make sure all players can reach the tree. To make the palm tree, the person pointed to stands with arms straight up (the trunk). Those on each side hold up their outside arms, hands drooping, to make the fronds.

The person they pointed to and the people next to them in the game then need to make either an elephant or palm tree position together. Playing Swing Monkey is a good way to apply basic physics to gameplay. The game’s mechanics can help players learn and understand the process of energy conversion. By applying knowledge of energy principles, players can calculate the right time to let go based on the amount of speed built up when swinging. This exciting game is great fun for all the family and is ideal for 2-4 players. Children can use the monkeys to colour sort and learn how to count while also developing problem solving skills.

Among the obstacles are trampolines you can use to spring off of and gain speed. The air time from the trampolines won’t last very long, so make sure to grab on to a ring as soon as possible! Know when to let goWhile Swing Monkey is a pretty unique physics game, there are a few games that have a similar feel to it once you finish up all 100 levels of Swing Monkey. A couple of games that we recommend are Candy Jump and Winter Dodge. Both are based on using your momentum and controlling your distance. Each player spins the dial to see how many monkeys (or big gorillas) to add. Players can add more and more – until all the monkeys fall down into the crocodile swamp! You can hang monkeys by their arms, legs or tails, and count them up to see how many were on the tree. For older children, divide the monkeys by colour, so each player has different coloured monkeys. Once the tree falls, you count the monkeys each player had on the tree, and the one with the most wins! Divide the monkeys evenly amongst all players (setting any leftover monkeys to one side) and place the gorillas in the base tray. One person stands in the middle and points to someone in the circle, saying ‘elephant’ or ‘palm tree’.
