Both these smartwatches would make a great fitness companion, disguising their true use while looking stylish and elegant on your wrist. For starters, the Vivomove Trend and Sport are approximately 40mm in diameter. As a result, they are smaller than the Vivomove Style 42mm. Those with large wrists may want to go with that option. There are a couple of features we'd like to see in a future version of the Vivomove too, even if it wasn't one designed to replace this watch. An alarm, and some way to light up the watch face at night, would be handy. Verdict The vívomove Style smartwatch combines the traditional look of an analog watch with the essential smart features you count on to keep up with your busy life. Its sleek, aluminum case and domed Corning Gorilla glass make for a chic but durable design. Suit every look with a variety of attractive colors and bands available in silicone or woven nylon.

Move bar (displays on device after a period of inactivity; walk for a couple of minutes to reset it) In terms of design, all of these are examples of typical hybrid watches. You can see them side by side in the image below. Garmin Vivomove Trend vs Style vs Sport DesignBecause this is a hybrid, there are analogue hands on top of the smart display. They show the time in the same way that any other traditional watch does. When you interact with the smart display beneath, however, the analogue hands will move out of the way. To reveal the display, tap or swipe. It only appears when you require it. I can imagine plenty of people who have no experience of Garmin's running watches wanting a Vivomove; it's perfect for those who are only after very light data. But as the Garmin Connect app is also designed to take in far more sophisticated info, from Forerunners and other sports devices, it doesn't feel all that well tailored to this particular watch.

If you want to avoid the typical smartwatch appearance, one of the Garmin hybrids might be for you. All of the fitness and smartwatch features are hidden inside and will only be visible when you want them to. Also, there is no sign of the much publicised ECG feature that landed on Venu 2 Plus a few days ago. It would have been a big ask for this to be made available on the hybrid, but next year’s edition might very well include it.

Menstrual tracking

In terms of battery life, Garmin says the Vivomove Style lasts up to five days in smartwatch mode and up to an additional week in watch mode. In testing, it went down 50 percent in 48 hours. The Vivoactive 4, meanwhile, lasts up to eight days in smartwatch mode, six hours in GPS mode, or 18 hours in GPS mode without music. Setup and Navigation Another distinction is in the display. The winner in this category is the Vivomove Trend, which has a 25.6 mm x 18.8 mm liquid crystal screen. That is slightly larger than the AMOLED display on the Vivomove Style and significantly larger than the greyscale display on the Vivomove Sport. It’s also worth noting that the one on Sport is the only one that doesn’t support touch. A key part of the Vivomove's appeal is how little of that appeal relies on the tech inside. It's a lovely watch, and the way it relays its fitness data on the face is entirely subordinate to this classic 'watchy-ness'. We liked As you might expect given the price, the Vivomove Sport is made of fiber-reinforced polymer for the case and chemically-strengthened glass for display protection. The Vivomove Style enhances this with an anodized aluminium case and bezel, as well as domed Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The Vivomove Trend has a fiber-reinforced polymer case, a stainless steel bezel, and a domed glass.

So, to the million-dollar question: how much do they cost? The good news is that the answer isn’t contained in the previous question; alas, neither the Style nor the Luxe is cheap. The colors and look of the Garmin Vivomove Style also make it more, well, stylish, so if you prefer the more functional, less delicate look, the Garmin Vivomove Sport is true to its name in that it's the sportier-looking version. The decision, then, might come down to style. The watch is waterproof to 50m or 5ATM, so you can take it swimming or diving if you like; however, you'd probably want to get the silicone strap Sport model, rather than the more expensive leather strap version I'm testing. Battery life: up to five days in smart mode and an additional week in watch mode (hands tell time only)Living with the Garmin Vivomove is just like living with a normal watch. There's zero faff involved, meaning it's worlds apart from the Apple Watch or any Android Wear watch.
