Fascia Boards –Protects and seals the rafter feet to prevent them from contracting any rot and it progressing up the rafters and into your roof. The fascia also supports the roof tiles and provides a fixing point and support for the guttering. Ideally, you want your fascia installation to be performed by an experienced professional, who knows what they’re doing. So even though you won’t necessarily be taking on the task yourself, it’s still useful to know how to fit a fascia – helping you ensure you’re getting the very best from the installation of your Deeplas fascia: Please note that categories such as - Square Inserts upto 76.2mm - Will contain all measurements between the previous and next category. Scratch-resistant, heavy-duty interior window boards in a choice of attractive colours, designed for simple, precision fitting View Products

Next, measure the required length of your box end and cut it from a deep fascia board. The front edge of this piece should tilt up, so it matches the height of the fascia board that is already fitted. Step 3: Cutting a length to the gable wall Infestations –many pests make their home in small damp spaces, and rotting fascias can be a home to many kinds of insects and rodents. A perfectly fitted fascia will serve its purpose and look pristine for a lifetime, which makes having your roofline installation performed correctly well worth your while. Guttering – Collects rainwater from the roof and discharges it into the downpipes. All gutters are levelled and aligned to ensure that they have the correct fall, leading to the rainwater running in the correct direction and down the downpipe. Here’s our guide to all things roofline, including an overview of the roles of soffits, fascias and gutters which are the key elements in the modern roofline. What is a Roof Soffit? If you feel it is all a bit too much to handle, then using a specialist roofline Replacement Company (like Anglia Roofline) could be a wise, economical choice for you. To us at Derbyshire fascias it is an important part in achieving customer satisfaction therefore we want the finished look of the ‘box ends’ to aesthetically complement your house. We see many examples of poorly constructed box ends and you probably won’t have to look far to see one of these yourself.

You do need soffit and fascia because they protect the bottom of your roof rafters from the weather and wildlife extending their life and reducing maintenance and insurance costs. What is the part under a gutter called? The next step is to measure the ‘kite’. This is the upper part of the box end and is a scalene triangle (a triangle with no equal sides or angles). The purpose of a Box End is to further protect the timber rafters within your roof construction. It also reduces the number of joints that would appear on traditional timber roofline methods.Alternatively, if your fascia is foiled, it needs to be fitted at 300mm centres maximum (i.e. no greater than 300mm). Once the box end is fitted into the corner moulding, measure and cut the return from your fascia board, and fit in place using plastic headed screws. Traditionally, timber fascia and soffits would be installed; however, this merely creates a lifetime of difficult maintenance. You repeatedly have to be up a ladder to ensure the condition of the timber remains good through continual painting, treatment and repairs.

Roofguard Eaves Protector –Inserted under the bottom roof tiles, the eaves guard protects the often damaged bottom end of felt in your roof and curves into the guttering, preventing any rainwater running behind the fascia board or guttering. These Square Tube Inserts are useful for all kinds of functional use and protection, and are recommended for capping the end of a box section. They also offer internal protection and integration through the use of tube connectors or threaded inserts. These Square Tube Caps / Tube Ends are easily fitted, featuring ribs which hold the insert tightly in position, which allows them to offer a truly long term finish that can be installed by hand. If you can accept 48 hours notice of a start time within a pre-agreed 4 week time frame, then I’ll happily give you the saving I’ve described. Our Square Tube Inserts, or Square Tube Caps For Box Sections as they are often referred to, are made from a selection of strong and reliable materials. These includeLDPE Plastic & Aluminium Alloys. Being made from such materials improves the life-span and performancewhile keeping costs as low as possible for manufacturing and production uses. Use conventional carpentry tools including fine toothed saws. Power tools may be run at speeds appropriate for timber. Nail and screw holes do not require pre-drilling. Off-Cuts Birds Nests –birds frequently make their homes in the rafters and disused chimneys of homes. Many of those birds are protected species, so care must be taken when moving them. Seek professional advice before interfering with a bird’s nest. Installing and fitting or replacing roofline products For the best results, use stainless steel fixing screws longer than recommended by the gutter manufacturer (i.e. minimum 9, 16 or 18mm longer – dependent on your fascia choice).
