Description

From time to time, Cambridge Audio may aggregate and/or anonymize any information collected through the services so that such information can no longer be linked to you or your device (“Aggregate/Anonymous Information”). We may use Aggregate/Anonymous Information for any purpose, including without limitation for research and marketing purposes. Information from your online interactions And, while I can’t claim to own many CDs in a rough condition, I was unable to find a disc that could trouble the CXC; even the aforementioned ’21st Century Breakdown’ played without issue. Summary Here’s the thing. When it comes time to listen to music, how we listen, through what medium, directly effects our experience. In terms of sound quality, the Cambridge CXC mostly proved the better sound quality source when compared to streaming. That’s just that. But I’m equally, yes equally, interested in the entire experience. So playing CDs does not render streaming obsolete, it provides another form of music enjoyment. And I like more enjoyment whenever I can get it. For example we use the services of the 3rd party company Zendesk to manage our support interactions with you. Featuring a reference standard ESS Sabre ES9016K2M DAC, the CXA81 works wonders with your digital audio and video sources. With two optical digital inputs and one coaxial, you can connect up to three digital sources, such as a games console, TV and a CD transport – the Cambridge Audio CXC makes the perfect match.

We use the personal information from your online interactions, by itself and in combination with your customer record (the information you share with us), in the following ways: Communicate with you; marketing and advertising; personalise the Services; improve the Services; business operations; with your consent The Cambridge Audio CXC is a CD transport. Its sole purpose is to spin up CDs to the correct and stable speed so that a laser can read the pits and lands that are encoded into the polycarbonate layer of the disc. Then, by way of the CXC’s digital outputs (Coax or Toslink), that data is sent to a digital to analog converter to turn bits into analog waves. This analog signal is then sent on to your amplification device(s) of choice. Done!You have the right to access, update and amend personal information that we hold about you. If the law in your country allows us to impose a fee for giving you access, we will communicate this to you in response to your request. I’ve owned many CD players over the years, but very few dedicated CD transports. More often than not I’ve opted for the single-box approach, favouring fewer components over what I feel are often minimal sound quality gains achieved when using a dedicated transport and DAC. Respect your choices and will inform you if there are important changes that affect your personal information or how we use it. It’s worth noting that I spent 6+ years as Editor of AudioStream, where my sole job was to listen to files, streamed or served, and figure out how to get the best sound from what was originally called, computer audio. It turns out the first thing you want to do, is get the computer out of the hifi system.

Its a bit of arms race, but I feel I got on the right ‘plane’, where major compromises in sound weren’t a factor. For customer satisfaction surveys and to allow us to improve your experience should you need support from one of our experts;

Usage

Provide the Services; marketing and advertising; personalise the Services; improve the Services; business operations; recognise users across Services; with your consent To monitor the performance and stability of our products so that we can optimise their performance and your experience of them; in particular, we want to be able to identify when there may be an issue with your product so that we can let you know about it as soon as possible (and potentially before the issue actually arises); Streaming features UPnP, AirPlay 2, Chromecast, internet radio, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Roon Ready Powerful sound begins with the power supply, which is why Cambridge Audio use an audiophile quality, toroidal transformer. Renowned for their low noise, high efficiency and superior sound quality, the over-sized transformer gives the CXA81 a powerful, dynamic sound and a hefty 80W per channel power output - enough for ‘party level’ sound in even the largest domestic spaces. While the laser uses light to read the disc, everything going on inside the box, as it were, makes for a perfect storm of electrical and mechanical noise that’s intent on traveling. So its also the job of every CD transport or player to deal with said noise and keep it from contaminating our precious and susceptible analog signal.
