When Helen came out of Brian’s office, she wouldn’t even look at me. She was giving me the freeze. The silent treatment. But my favourite part of the day was when I made Tara a coffee in the morning. I took the coffee to Tara’s office and told her that I’d cleaned all the cat hair off her coat. Tara asked “Oh, thank you. Could you please bring it around?” She did the exact same thing with her mug in the afternoon as well. So Tara seems to be taking it for granted that I will wash her mug for her (which I will of course).

I cleaned away any dirt that was in the small crevice where the patent leather connected to the shoes’ soles. It felt great to be holding shoes that belonged to Tara. The Hole in the Wall gang/gangster reference is to the ACTUAL hitw gang, a band of outlaws from the Old West. Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid were members I said “Umm, I’m not sure they would clean them... they might expect customers to clean them up a bit before they bring them in for repair.” I arrived at work on Wednesday and saw Tara’s car was already in the parking lot behind the centre. So I went straight to Tara’s office to talk to her. But it was empty. Jenny said “Can you blame them? You had fights with everyone that works here! You’ve made plenty of enemies, so I would suggest you put your head down and get on with your work. I’m really not interested in hearing about people ‘pushing your buttons’. You’re already on thin ice. Don’t make me regret giving you another chance.”

They said “What are you doing?? Are you cleaning her boots??” I knew it was a Helen’s voice, and thought that she was probably the last person I wanted to be busted by.

Another co-worker, Erica, has a kinder view, saying Tara is very serious and ambitious. I think this is a far more accurate description of Tara, although my opinion is probably a little biased as I must confess to having a bit of a crush on Tara.talking about the pics on their hard drives and how great it would be to have an online archive to share and store all these pics. From this, The Mouse Hole Of course I nearly dropped dead on the spot. I replied “What?? No. I just...like to help... you know..” I said “Well you were kind of upset this morning... about your shoes.... and I just wanted to ....ah, you know... help fix the problem... that’s why I offered to take them to the repairers....and I’m quite happy to pay for the repairs.” I had been blotting Tara’s sneakers for much longer than needed, but I was just loving the fact that I was getting to touch Tara’s sneakers and to look directly at them up so close. But as soon as Tara had finished her coffee, while I was blotting the Nike logo on the sole of her left sneaker, Tara pulled her feet away, putting them on the floor and standing up.

I said “Yeah. Might be a good thing anyway. Maybe think about it a bit more over the weekend, hey?” Tara sheepishly said “You did such a good job cleaning my shoes on Monday... and I wondered if you might help me out with another cleaning job?” Tara giggled quietly, with her mouth closed. I looked up at Tara’s face. She looked pretty pleased with herself. I'm really want to try a hardpad but I've been discouraged by the fact that hardpads eat PTFE feet, but with UHMW feet that shouldn't be a problem. Tara was talking to me a bit while she she sat drinking her coffee. One thing she said was “I was going to wear my suede boots today... but then I got the idea to ask you to clean my boots today to try and push Helen into doing something stupid.”

When I had been on my knees cleaning Tara’s boot, holding it in my hands while she sat eating her lunch, I had been so happy. It was while I was cleaning Tara’s left boot that I decided to create a new thread on here, to share the delightful experience. Brian said that he would try to talk to Helen today, and would tell her to apologise to Bernadette. Obviously Tara just wanted me to ‘dry’ her boots so Helen would see and get annoyed, perhaps losing her temper so she gets fired. There were no puddles in the carpark this morning and her boots were completely dry. Tara had been at work for over an hour and walking around on the carpeted floor, so any moisture that might have been on her boots’ soles from the carpark had already dried. But every cloud has a silver lining, and for me that silver lining is a young lady named Tara (although most of the other staff don’t like her at all!).
