Besides the plethora of more research still to be done, what more is there to say about this book? Read it if you want to further understand some of the naming conventions for some of the most popular chemicals out there. To do so is to risk legal action which might lead to the tragic ruination of a life. It should also be noted that any person anywhere who experiments on himself, or on another human being, with any of the drugs described herin, without being familiar with that drug’s action and aware of the physical and/or mental disturbance or harm it might cause, is acting irresponsibly and immorally, whether or not he is doing so within the bounds of the law. — Alexander T. Shulgin ABOUT THIS HTML VERSION OF PiHKAL However, there were sections of the book that were actually quite boring and I didn't care about. The sections I didn't care about were generally their life adventures, because it wasn't really about drugs and not what I was looking for, a chapter that is basically just a list of where DMT is naturally occurring in nature, and a chapter about a vivid dream that was brought on by drugs. I just didn't care. B was discovered in 1974 by the American chemist Alexander Shulgin, who was investigating psychedelic phenethylamines derived from mescaline. PiHKAL: A Chemical Love Story is a book by Dr. Alexander Shulgin and Ann Shulgin, published in 1991. The subject of the work is psychoactive phenethylamine chemical derivatives, notably those that act as psychedelics and/or empathogen-entactogens. The main title, PiHKAL, is an acronym that stands for "Phenethylamines I Have Known and Loved." Anu" (February 1996) [Modified 2016]. "The Nexus Factor: An Introduction to 2C-B". Erowid . Retrieved October 10, 2020.Interestingly though, the most common report is that there is practically no next-day comedown or hangover and that the whole experience is much more gentle than its cousins MDMA and LSD. “LSD-like visuals but without the ‘head games’ that sometimes comes with traditional psychedelics,” is how Raquel described it. Plus, many say they don’t feel the “serotonin dump” or depressive come-down that can follow an MDMA experience.

The Essential Amphetamines are what Shulgin describes as ten amphetamines that differ from natural products such as safrole or myristicin by an amine group ( PIHKAL Entry #157 TMA). The list consists of: TiHKAL: The Continuation is a 1997 book written by Alexander Shulgin and Ann Shulgin about a family of psychoactive drugs known as tryptamines. TiHKAL is an acronym that stands for "Tryptamines I Have Known and Loved." The book is a sequel to PiHKAL: A Chemical Love Story.phen-ethyl-amine \fen-'eth-al-a-,men\ n. [ phenyl fr. F. phène, fr. It is an endogenous component of the human brain. 2: Any of a series of compounds containing the phenethylamine skeleton, and modified by chemical constituents at appropriate positions in the molecule.

I discovered this book and its sister publication (TIHKAL) during an interesting period of my undergraduate career. The book has three parts. The first part documents Dr. Schulgin's development of Zectran at Dow Chemical and his ever evolving interest in psychoactive drugs and finally his love affair with his wife Ann. The second part is the "Love Story" depicted from Ann's point of view. The third part of the book is an index of interesting chemicals and a rather detailed library of their synthesis protocols. United Kingdom: 2C-B is a Class A drug in the United Kingdom as a result of the phenethylamine catch-all clause. [40]

Subjective effects include open and closed-eye visuals, time distortion, euphoria, and ego loss. User reports have described the effects of 2C-B as moderate, warm, colorful, and highly sensual. Similar to mescaline, it is described as possessing a less serious or grandiose headspace than tryptamines like LSD or psilocybin mushrooms, placing greater emphasis on the visual and tactile domain.

Brazil: 2C-B is illegal to possess, produce and sell in Brazil as it is listed on Portaria SVS/MS nº 344. [25] However, not everyone experienced open eye visuals, but reported complex patterning when they closed their eyes and relaxed. “CEV [closed eye visuals] were very reminiscent to LSD in a playful, whimsical manner with an emphasis on pink and green colors. [They were] complex and symbolic with depth and layering,” said Adrian. Tabella I" (PDF) (in Italian). Ministero della Salute [Ministry of Health]. p.8 . Retrieved January 7, 2020.

The Chemistry Continues

I'm not going to write a traditional review of this book. Everyone has already done that. I AM going to try to describe what it has done for me.
