Description

As you can see in the table above, the Ryzen 9 7900X3D's 3D V-Cache equipped chiplet actually has more cache-per-core than the 7950X3D, with 16 MB-per-core for the 7900X3D and 12 MB-per-core for the 7950X3D. It also has more L3 cache-per-core on the normal die, too. In contrast, AMD disables L2 cache slices in tandem with the cores, so the 7900X3D has 12 MB of L2 while the 7950X3D has 16 MB.

The Ryzen 9 7900X3D is a high-performance CPU that boasts impressive specifications. With 12 cores and 24 threads, it offers exceptional processing power, making it an excellent choice for demanding tasks such as video editing, 3D modeling, and scientific simulations. Video codec acceleration (including at least the HEVC (H.265), H.264, VP9, and AV1 codecs) is subject to and not operable without inclusion/installation of compatible media players. GD-176 Consequently, The density of the fins is ideal at 15FPI. As a result, the radiator is effective even when challenged by less airflow. The Eisbaer Pro Aurora is nearly completely made of practical water-cooling components. This cooler’s sturdy and long-lasting TPV hoses are often used in corporate products such as servers and workstations. The hose connections are likewise from Alphacool’s Enterprise line and are “ G1/4” in size. I tested the AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D inside of a newly built machine utilizing Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 RAM, an Nvidia RTX 4090, and a brand new RM1000X PSU. The chip was utilized heavily for gaming in the benchmarked titles as well as in games such as Mortal Kombat 11, Cyberpunk 2077, and Tekken 7.When it comes to cache size, the Ryzen 9 7900X3D has a larger L3 cache of 128MB compared to the Ryzen 9 7900X’s 76MB. A larger cache can help to improve performance by reducing the time it takes to access frequently used data. However, the Ryzen 9 7900X3D is more energy-efficient at these lower speeds, making it an attractive option for gamers looking for a powerful and efficient CPU. Additionally, the Ryzen 9 7900X3D has a lower TDP than the Ryzen 9 7900X, further contributing to its efficiency. Alongside that, the length of the tube is around 400 mm. Fascinatingly, tubes are made from soft materials, which are easy to work with and won’t kink. For a tidier appearance, Enermax covers its hoses with mesh sleeves.According to Enermax, the cooler features a two-chamber layout. The patented dual-chamber mechanism of Enermax provides thermal insulation for the pump. From Enermax’s perspective, this would also greatly improve the cooler’s efficiency without reducing its efficiency. Opening with the flagship SKU, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D shares many of the same characteristics as the Ryzen 9 7900X, including 16-cores and 32-threads and a turbo frequency of up to 5.7 GHz. The enhanced chip offers 128MB of L3 cache, which is comprised of 64 MB of existing pooled L3 cache in the CCDs, and another 64 MB sliced on top with TSVs (presumably placing 64MB on one CCD, creating an unbalanced cache). Curiously, the official TDP is also much lower, with the chip rated at 120 W versus 170 W for the regular 7950X. Consequently, the 7950X3D has a lower base core frequency of 4.2 GHz, versus 4.5 GHz. Although the Ryzen 9 7950X3D has a 300 MHz slower base frequency, having the same turbo frequency of 5.7 GHz means that peak performance can be similar, though in heavily multithreaded situations the lower TDP is undoubtedly going to come into play. AMD Ryzen 7000X/X3D Series Line-Up

The Ryzen 9 7900X3D, utilizing AMD’s 3D V-cache technology, is the second-best CPU from Team Red to hit the market. It provides users with a more affordable high-end option for their gaming rigs. In this post, we will delve into the specifications and performance of this new processor. While AMD is primarily highlighting the specifications and performance of its most robust processor, the 7950X3D, the 7900X3D is also a highly anticipated release. This 12-core and 24-thread CPU, boasting 128MB of cache memory, carries a significant responsibility. It aims to serve as a valuable intermediate option between the forthcoming 7800X3D and the top-tier 7950X3D, catering to users looking for a high-performance CPU that doesn’t come with an astronomical price tag. While a higher TDP usually relates to higher performance, the inclusion of the added 3D V-cache means that the processor can access a larger pool of superfast cache memory, which is even more useful when gaming than just throwing raw power at the problem. With its own dedicated extra cache, there are fewer fetch operations to the PC's main memory, so the chip runs more efficiently, and potentially cooler under load. A cooler’s longevity is greatly affected by its build quality; for example, if the radiator is made of aluminum, the device will last far longer than one with inferior quality. Naturally, your cooler’s performance, noise levels, and cooling efficiency are all affected by its build quality. Compared to the more expensive chipsets, the AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D absolutely holds its own with the 7950X3D and the 13900K, with the largest gap visible seen with how AMD's flagship handles Returnal. This is likely due to the fact that the 7950X3D utilizes an additional four cores and eight threads, and Total War series has always been Intel's strongest gaming benchmark, which remains the case here.

These benchmark results clearly show that the Ryzen 9 7900X3D has a significant performance advantage over the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, particularly in multi-core tasks. Therefore, if you are looking for a high-performance CPU for demanding tasks such as video editing, 3D rendering, or gaming, the Ryzen 9 7900X3D may be a better choice for you, albeit at a higher price point. Ryzen 7 7800X3D vs Ryzen 9 7900X3D: Price

AMD's Ryzen 7000X3D gaming-focused processors finally have a release date - or rather, two release dates. The Ryzen 9 7900X3D and 7950X3D will debut on February 28th, with the 7800X3D arriving on April 6th. AMD has confirmed that each chiplet of the 7900X3D contains 6 active cores, ensuring a balanced configuration across the processor. This eliminates any uneven setups where, for instance, one chiplet would contain 8 cores with 3D V-Cache while the other has only 4 cores without it. Again, an individual matter. E.g. if someone is playing just one game two hours a week, then depending on the game one may even argue that a console may be the top value option. In terms of TDP, the Ryzen 9 7900X3D has a lower TDP of 120W compared to the Ryzen 9 7900X’s 170W. This means that the Ryzen 9 7900X3D should consume less power and generate less heat, making it a better choice for users who prioritize energy efficiency. Precision Boost Overdrive requires a compatible AMD Ryzen Threadripper, 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen processor, or Ryzen 5000 Series processor and a motherboard compatible with one or more of these processors. 2nd Gen AMD Ryzen processors including the Ryzen 3200G processor are not compatible with Precision Boost Overdrive. Because Precision Boost Overdrive enables operation of the processor outside of specifications and in excess of factory settings, use of the feature invalidates the AMD product warranty and may also void warranties offered by the system manufacturer or retailer. GD-135.Ryzen 9 7900X3D PBO/UV: Corsair H115i 280mm water cooler, Precision Boost Overdrive (Advanced/Motherboard), Scalar 10X, -20 Curve Optimizer, DDR5-6000 EXPO (Coupled Mode), Silicon lottery and cooling performance impact overhead -- YMMV Both processors belong to the same generation (Zen 4) and offer some impressive specs, but they have some differences that set them apart from each other. Starting with the core count, the Ryzen 9 7900X3D has 12 cores and 24 threads, while the Ryzen 7 7800X3D has 8 cores and 16 threads. This gives the Ryzen 9 a clear advantage in multitasking and running resource-intensive applications. Specs
