Description

The process usually starts because your GP, a family member, a police officer or psychiatrist is worried about your mental health.

Being sectioned is an absolute last resort and people who are sectioned have usually explored other avenues with their GP already. For example, somebody with anorexia might have had years of treatment but is at the point where if they don’t receive urgent intervention they are at a very high risk of death. What are the sections?

Albert Gleizes exhibited Les Baigneuses (The Bathers) at the 1912 Salon de la Section d'Or (catalogue no. 40). The proportions of the canvas correspond exactly to the golden rectangle (a ratio of 1 to 1.618 ± 0.01). This work has a rare dimension of 105 x 171cm. Gleizes, as most artists at the time, generally used standard format chassis (stretchers), which are not golden rectangles. [19]

Please note: this article refers to the law in England and Wales. The law in Scotland and Northern Ireland differs slightly – there are some links below. The basic principles are similar. ** It can be hard to support someone with a mental health problem , especially when the person you’re worried about doesn’t think – or realise – there is anything wrong. Nevertheless, if a person is becoming a danger to themselves or those around them, getting them sectioned may be the best way to protect them. What does sectioning someone mean? Though the Salle 41 Cubists had been surprised by the highly impassioned reactions generated by the 1911 Salon des Indépendants showing, they appear to have been eager to attract as much attention as possible with the Salon de la Section d'Or. The inauguration was held from nine until midnight, for which the only precedent was the opening of the 1903 Salon d'Automne. Invitations were widely diffused prior to the show, and many of the guests had to be turned away on opening night (9 October 1912). Lectures by Apollinaire, Hourcade and Raynal were advertised, and a review, La Section d'Or, was published to coincide with the Vernissage; with contributions by Guillaume Apollinaire, Roger Allard, René Blum, Olivier Hourcade, Max Jacob, Maurice Raynal, Pierre Reverdy, André Salmon, André Warnod and others. [10] [12]Not all hospitals will be able to offer a ward dedicated to each gender, but all should at least offer same-sex toilets and washing facilities. You may then be taken to, or kept at, a place of safety for an assessment by an approved mental health professional and a doctor.
