Available in 275ml bottles and 250ml can serves, Good Earth Kombucha is available in three flavours of Natural; Ginger & Lemon; and Pomegranate & Blueberry. Good Earth has reformulated its flavours for 2021 to further boost flavour and reduce sugar content, so now comes in at around 30 calories or less per 275ml bottle. Oakman Group has agreed a 35-year lease with St Albans City & District Council to redevelop the historic Batchwood Hall in St Albans. They carbonated their first attempts with a soda stream before testing their experiments with a selection of the spirits.

Sekforde Drinks’ Sicilian Orange, Rosemary & Gentian soda can be enjoyed on its own as a soft drink but has also been tailored to mix with whisky and bourbon (our panellists tasted it with Monkey Shoulder whisky). The service at The Castle is good and the drinks selection varied and of decent quality. Personally, I’d say the 3.9 rating on Google is a bit harsh, as I said, the drinks are decent and the staff efficient and friendly. With the boom in bespoke, craft, and luxury spirits, more people than ever are paying attention to the drinks themselves. More and more people are seeing drinks tasting as a hobby. Not being on of the largest pubs on the list, it’s not uncommon for the pub to spill out into the Jerusalem Passage, which can often create quite the buzz in the air during sunny and festive periods. Featuring a good food and drinks menu, the pub has plenty of indoor seating, with several benches around the parameter of the pubs for those that choose to go outside. Downstairs, there is a second bar and music room that often host events or parties, so it’s still pretty easy to get served even when those are happening. Of course, the first major challenge for the Whites was turning their homemade mixers into an actual drinks business. The pair felt that there was a gap in the market with mixers. At 60 calories per bottle and under, they contain no added sugar, no artificial sweeteners, no colourings, no preservatives and are never from concentrate. The 100% recyclable bottles are the perfect premium single-serve soft drink, as well as ideal for mixing.White’s botanical sodas are 100% natural, low in sugar (White did not use much sugar as it covers the taste of the spirits) and are also low in calories (with less than 18 calories per 100ml), which increasingly appeals to drinkers. The drinks can also be paired with food due to their delicate flavours. White explains that Tom is a keen chef and applied the same skills to crafting mixers. White says he took an almost culinary approach to deciding on the botanical blend, looking into the characteristics of whiskies and rums to find complementary flavours using food grade aromatherapy oils and just simple sugar and water. Given that so much of a drink’s success is down to how much it stands out on the shelf, Talula’s simple, eye-catching design probably served Sekforde wonders in its first year. Standing out from the crowd: Marston’s PLC has announced thatAndrew Andrea has agreed with the board that he will step down as chief executive officer of the pub... Payne, Stonegate founder and chairman, to retire I’ll admit, there have been times the service can get a bit patchy and knowing the right spots to get served are an art. But overall, the pub is an icon and certainly deserves to be on a list for the best pubs in Clerkenwell.

In fact, Talula admits she thought she never really cared for gin. That’s because she didn’t like tonic. Sekforde’s mixer for gin is unique because it makes no attempt to include the hallmark of tonic water: quinine. Mixers for drink lovers: A new law making it illegal for premises to withhold gratuities from workers will come into force in May 2024. The major challenges was in not knowing how much work goes into getting your products listed in bars, dealing with wholesalers, pub and bar chains. Plus the amount of brand collaboration which is necessary to make a name for your brand and to even be able to have it sold into venues in the first place. Being a small brand meant that for the first year or so of running Sekforde, there had to be an intense effort of getting acquainted with the drinks industry, spreading awareness about the brand and building relationships with bars, bartenders, suppliers and brands.” Hi, Tom and Talula, it’s nice to meet you, can you tell us more about the husband and wife team behind the brand Sekforde drinks?

Pub and bar operators react to Autumn Statement One of the other major differences between Sekforde Drinks and other mixers brands was that gin was never the primary focus.
