Showcase and Showcase Cinema de Lux are committed to providing you with the ultimate film-going experience.

We are excited to be partnering with BMG and Wendy Dio to present ‘DIO: Dreamers Never Die’ in cinemas worldwide,” said Kymberli Frueh, SVP for Programming and Content Acquisitions for Trafalgar Releasing. Wendy Dio previously ruled out a movie biopic like Bohemian Rhapsody and The Dirt, explaining to Metal Voice: "No, I don't wanna do a biopic. Nobody could play Ronnie, I don't think.” Showcase and Showcase Cinema de Lux are owned and operated by National Amusements, Inc., a world leader in the motion picture exhibition industry operating 839 screens in the US, UK, Argentina and Brazil. National Amusements delivers a superior entertainment experience in cinemas around the world under its Showcase, Multiplex, Showcase Cinema de Lux and UCI brands. Based in Massachusetts, National Amusements is a closely held company operating under the third generation of leadership by the Redstone family. National Amusements is the parent company of Paramount Global. The film’s directors Don Argott and Demian Fenton comment: "People who have conviction, talent and heart like Ronnie James Dio are in short supply these days. It is refreshing to share his inspiring story of believing in yourself and chasing your dreams. In music’s metal subculture, the late singer Ronnie James Dio may still count as the genre’s most widely beloved figure, which makes him ripe for a documentary. He was almost completely uncontroversial, which doesn’t necessarily bode as well for such a treatment. The dude who popularized the so-called “devil horns” hand gesture was no demon. He just played one on MTV, or at least enjoyed dragging out the sinister imagery, even if in in real life he came off as a friendly upstate New York guy who’d made it big with a penchant for vaguely mystic imagery and a mountain-king-sized voice that could fill the biggest halls. DIO: Dreamers Never Die is fully authorized by the artist’s estate, was financed solely by BMG, was directed by Don Argott and Demian Fenton ( Framing John DeLorean, Believer, Last Days Here), produced by Don Argott and Sheena Joyce for 9.14 Pictures, and executive produced by Dio’s widow and longtime manager Wendy Dio for Niji Productions and Kathy Rivkin Daum for BMG. Interviews are available with Wendy Dio, Don Argott, Demian Fenton, and additional subjects from the film. Premieres will be held in Los Angeles and London.

Wendy Dio says this film about her late husband has been "made with love, for Ronnie". Even when topics are less than glorious - the parting of ways with original solo band guitarist Vivian Campbell is told of without varnish - this remains true throughout. For many, Dio the metal hero will be a familiar character, but this is also a film about Dio the man, Dio the husband, Dio the dreamer, Dio the well-read thinker, Dio the sage, Dio the guy who simply wouldn't give up on life. In this, he has been done proud.

Wendy also talked about her first reaction to seeing "Dio: Dreamers Never Die", saying: "When they put the film together and we had a private screening for me, it was my first chance to see all the little bits put together, and it was very bittersweet. I broke down and cried. And it was just exactly how I wanted Ronnie to be portrayed. They had done such a magnificent job. And that was just really, really — after all the hard work we all put into it, it was, like, 'Woah.' I think the fans are absolutely gonna love it." During an appearance on this past Wednesday's (April 26) episode of SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk", Wendy Dio was asked if "Dio: Dreamers Never Die", the first-ever career-spanning documentary on the life and times of legendary metal icon Ronnie James Dio, will get a DVD and Blu-Ray release in the near future. Ronnie's widow and longtime manager responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Oh, yes, absolutely. That's in the works. In fact, I was just singing off on the credits today. And that will be out on Mercury through Universal in September. It comes out on Blu-ray and on DVD, and there's so much bonus stuff on it too; there's a whole bunch of bonus stuff that never made it to the film that will be in there. So I'm excited about that. Of course it's still on Showtime, but a lot of the people in Europe and stuff didn't get it at all unless they saw it when it was in theaters. So now it will go worldwide." Dio: Dreamers Never Die" was financed solely by BMG and was directed by Don Argott and Demian Fenton ( "Framing John DeLorean", "Believer", "Last Days Here"),produced by Don Argott and Sheena Joyce for 9.14 Pictures, and executive-produced by Wendy Dio for Niji Productions and Kathy Rivkin Daum for BMG. Dio: Dreamers Never Die" had its television premiere last December on Showtime. It is also available to stream via the Showtime app. This won’t be the last time you think of “This Is Spinal Tap.” It’s difficult to imagine that that comedy’s creators weren’t influenced at least a little by Dio’s act, even if it wasn’t until later in the ’80s that he made it a nightly habit to wield a prop sword and slay a 13-foot, laser-eyed dragon on arena stages each night.
