Description

The front mounted bass ports help the bass driver drop lower, moving more air as a result. Although most speakers feature a bass port, they are often found on the rear of the speaker. As a result most speakers suffer in performance if mounted close to a wall. Thankfully, Pioneer DJ have placed two ports on the front of the speaker, meaning the DM-40 is perfectly suited to being placed close to a wall. The DM 40 Pioneer DJ’s speakers are front-ported, which minimizes the problematic crisp sound quality reflection issues of putting them too close to a rear wall. The front-loaded bass system starts with four fibreglass woofers that output the bass from the front, aided by the bass ducts which have grooves to reduce the air friction, so that you will feel a punchy bass even when the speakers are placed close to a wall. The soft dome tweeters that have been fitted are 3/4 inch wide and have convex diffusers that use DECO technology from the TAD Labs. The diffusers channel high frequencies right left and up, to create a wide sweet spot and also create a 3D stereo sound.

It comes across as a bit restrained, even rounded off. One could consider the crisp sound being warm, but that is taking an optimistic perspective. Only after the volume is above 70%, one can start to notice unpleasant artifacts coming through. However, having them blast at just below that amount will be more than enough power for most casual uses.

According to Pioneer, the curved front edges help minimize undesirable sonic reflections and the DECO convex diffusers aid in making the sonic sweet spot as wide as possible. These solutions also make for an intriguing smart design. To establish a connection with the speakers, you'll have to do it with the left speaker as it carries the necessary ports to establish the required connections. Of course, you’ll need speaker wires to establish the connection to your speaker. Great studio monitors are probably the most important sonic tool to help you create and shape your music – they are, essentially, your digital ears. The woofer and the Tweeter are carefully aligned to eliminate crossover and also make sure that you get a balanced response across the frequencies while the class AB amp ensures outstanding clarity and little distortion with no compromise on quality.

According to Pioneer, the DJ DM 40 units are made to be very user-friendly when it comes to connectivity.Getting your room acoustics on point is half the battle when it comes to making the best out of your audio system.

These are especially helpful when placing your audio setup on a table because the table can act as a speaker extension itself. The second-best option is getting desk stands, and the third-best option is having some foam cushions, which Pioneer DJs kindly supply with their speakers. From things like simple Bluetooth speakers to a more powerful set of active floor-standers, they are definitely becoming more and more popular. We’ve seen a few active DJ monitors in stores before but after a little hiatus, we now have something new to look at with the new Pioneer DM40 monitors speakers. The Bluetooth module included on the DM-40 is simply for easier casual listening. Making the DM-40 an easier speaker to live with day to day, the inclusion of Bluetooth broadens the speakers appeal. Although we regularly used the Bluetooth connection with our phones and laptop we found the physical analogue cable sounded slightly better. Prices valid in stores (all including VAT) until close of business on 28th November 2023. (Some of these web prices are cheaper than in-store, so please mention that you've seen these offers online.)

Corporate / B2B

Pioneer is a company that has gathered a lot of reverence throughout the years. Their flagship gear is known to be the cream of the crop when it comes to delivering excellent audio quality DJ equipment. If you need a speaker that defies the regular square shape that other speakers come with, this speaker is an excellent choice for you. It is oval-shaped, lightweight, and portable. This speaker boasts Bluetooth connectivity with a fantastic range. The only downside to this speaker is that it is not that great when you try to play music at lower volumes.

Practically this means that the crisp sound quality does not decrease drastically depending on your location in the room. Front-Loaded Bass Reflex System The DM 40s come with two-meter long audio cables, power leads, and some foam cushions that act as miniature isolation pads.

The specially engineered ducts cut down on impediments and produce a clean, grand, low-end oomph regardless of your volume levels. Class AB Amplifiers Unlike what you might have heard before about budget speakers and how they sound, this budget speaker seems to raise the bar for how budget speakers should sound. For starters, beginner DJ would love the punch it produces when they play songs through it. It doesn't punch as hard as premium speakers, but I think it's simply impressive, especially for a portable budget speaker.
