Overall, this is a brilliant vacuum cleaner that has great suction, great maneuverability and is nice and lightweight with plenty of attachment for all your vacuum cleaning needs. THE DISCOUNT

No matter what type of flooring you have throughout your house the HF22STH has it covered as you can adjust the brush bar to cope equally with hard floors and carpets. And then this picture was taken just today after two weeks of daily use which included the vacuuming of my bedroom which was the real test as that is where I dry my (very long) hair. As you can see there is only a few strands of hair wrapped around the centre where there is a break in the roller strip. This was easily snipped off in a couple of seconds and compared to my hair getting wrapped up in vacuums in the past this is absolutely nothing! I was dubious about the anti hair wrap working at all and it really exceeded my expectations. I can also see how much it’s working when I empty the dust canister as it’s visibly full of hair. READ NEXT: The best Dyson vacuum cleaners Hoover HF500 Anti-Twist Cordless Vacuum Cleaner review: What’s it like to use? After testing out the HF500 Anti Twist Pets in my bedroom (where most of my hair accumulates) I can confirm that the amount of hair in the floorhead was much, much less than when using my corded vacuum! What’s the battery life like? On furniture (I particularly like using the dusting tool for our velvet headrest that seems to accumulate so much dust!)

I’m happy to say that the Hoover HF500Anti-Twist dealt with all the above incredibly well. It felt light and flexible to hold and it maneuvered around furniture (and children) with ease. The small head and flexible joints meant that it could slip under things really well. In addition to ALL that though, you get BETTER performance and suction power, a new “anti twist” floorhead which prevents hairs from wrapping around the brush, faster charging and a longer run time. PUTTING THE HF500 PLUS TO THE TEST After a week of use though, I am thrilled to confirm that the anti-twist technology is living up to its name. WHAT WE THOUGHT There is a wall attachment included, as well as screws and wall plugs, if you want to store it on the wall. This makes it easy to follow the suggestion of leaving it plugged in and charging between use (except for prolonged absences). The battery is a 4,000mAh unit, which takes around 3hrs 30mins to charge. It’s easily removable, so can be swapped with a second device if you have the dual battery model, and it can be charged either in situ when installed in the vacuum or separately. What it doesn’t have is a fluffy roller for hard floor cleaning. You can switch off the rotating brush bar if you’re working on delicate floors, but you can’t switch it out for an alternative. The HF500 Anti-Twist has an improved run time over the previous models, despite an increase in power! Now you can clean for even longer between charges! The HF500’s turbo mode now lasts 25% longer. Fast charging The side-loading of the suction pipe has its pros and cons. Yes, you can empty it without removing attachments, but it means fluff and dirt needs to pass through a tight u-bend as it transitions from the upward pipe to the bottom of the collection bin. The "anti-twist" floor head is all new and works really well at stopping hair wrapping around the brush.

If you want the convenience and portability of a vacuum without sacrificing suction power, choose the Hoover-HF500STH. Whether you have a big house, (or need a really deep clean) you don't need to worry about the battery running out of power, as this vacuum boasts an impressive 45-minute run time It comes with a spare filter and these can be washed so you can alternate between the two. They recommend washing at least once a month. The other option for emptying all the dust out is to take the dust container off the motorised part. You then need to remove the filters before tipping the dust into the bin, but you can get a much better clean this way. All of these parts can be washed to get them really clean too, but make sure they are completely dry before reassembling to the motorised parts. Storage Hook If you need an affordable cordless vacuum from a trusted brand, then the Hoover HF9 Cordless Vacuum would make a solid choice. It's really easy to use and charge, and has suction power that will do everything you need it to.The other consideration is that using 'Boost' mode on this vacuum means that battery life goes down to 12 minutes. It's a useful mode to have and one that I enjoy using in especially hair-prone areas, but make sure not to have it turned to 'Boost' all of the time if you're conscious of using up the battery. Care and maintenance Throughout I've been comparing the Hoover HF9 to the Shark Stratos, as I think these two vacuums are close competitors. While I would say that the performance of the Shark Stratos may slightly tip the scales, the affordability and lightweight design of the HF9 makes it an option that I would tell anyone on a budget to go for, especially if you can find it at a discounted price. The anti-hair tangling floorhead works on all floor surfaces as it has a mix of soft and hard bristles to clean all types of hard floors and carpets. Of course, the proof of the pudding is in the cleaning, so to speak. We tested the HF500 with our usual suite of challenging tests, spilling both flour and Cheerios on both carpet and hard floor, then measuring how much the vacuum collects on a single pass.
