To cut the long story short, it seems that for the first time in the last 10-15 years the market of metal detectors experiences a real revolution, and the Vanquish series is a big chunk of this revolution. Now, let’s see what interesting features this revolution brings. The 340 is still a great option for those on a stricter budget. Both the Vanquish series and Equinox series have higher Target ID accuracy at maximum depth and faster recovery speed, making them a true contender in the metal detecting world. The Nokta Makro Simplex+ is one of my favorite metal detectors. The Simplex+ is designed to be an affordable detector for beginning or intermediate detectorists. The Simplex+ is Nokta Makro’s first entry level metal detector and is very easy to use. This model comes with automatic ground balancing and 4 search modes: Field, Park, Beach, and All Metal.

Moreover, a new series of coils that were developed specifically for Vanquish machines attracts attention as well. All metal detectors in the series have DD coils, which is really cool (best regards to Garrett again!).The Vanquish 440 comes with 5 Find Modes: Coin, Relic, Jewelry, All Metal and Custom. Each mode is pre-programmed and fully optimized to allow users the best performance. The Vanquish 440 works well in parks, fields, mountains, rivers/streams, yards, gold prospecting, and even beach environments. I’m confident that even the true novice will be using the Minelab Vanquish 440 effectively in no time. Minelab engineers have thought this through in detail and gave us a product that will put smiles on many faces. More than that, the real intelligence of the system is that the Multi-IQ processing will collate and compare the signals from all operating frequencies, analasing the similarities and differences between them to get a clearer picture of what's really down there. This gives you better target ID and discrimination at greater depth, and the versatility to perform in a wider range of ground types, handling mineralisation, wet sand, etc. That means you can find and identify targets that a single frequency will struggle with. Pay attention to this parameter if you plan to have some real treasure hunting trips. If you get Minelab Vanquish – 340 you’ll dig 5 times more holes. However, this can make you a professional, since they dig all the signals. I found the stability at the beach to rival that of other Minelab multi frequency detectors. It’s truly at home in a salt water environment. In discrimination mode, it was quiet and stable throughout the wet sand. In the surf, I reduced the sensitivity from level 10 to 8 and it performed flawlessly.

What sets Multi-IQ apart from other so-called multi-frequency systems is that it is true Simultaneous multi-frequency. I’ve received many questions about whether Vanquish 440 is more similar to the 540 or 340 models? I would say that it is 540. Even though the 540 model shows different results, and it has some new functions as well as the possibility of wireless connection, the 340 model is still better in terms of a sensitivity level and detection depth. Minelab has provided an option for the user to save a preferred setting to which they can easily return that is most effective in their environment for the type of hunting they do. Ten setting levels ensure decreasing iron volume to its minimum and leave non-ferrous targets sound clearer and louder. You can activate and adjust this function by holding the All metal, Volume, and +/- buttons. Minelab has been an industry leader in manufacturing metal detectors for nearly 4 decades. They make metal detectors that are built to combat the most difficult soil conditions. Their metal detectors are all built to the highest military standards and are trusted by military units all over the globe.Sensitivity at depth was excellent. See the test data sheet below. The factory preset zero threshold didn’t seem to hamper target ID capability. One noted shortcoming was with thin gold chains. See Cons below. If that is the case, I would highly recommend the Equinox 800 as it can operate on 5 single frequencies, while the 600 can only operate on 3. For me personally, and for anyone else with budget constraints, the Vanquish 440 is a fantastic option. It has more features than the 340 and is nestled between the lowest and highest models of the series. This makes it a good choice for a beginning, or even an intermediate, detectorist. The Vanquish 540 weighs a few ounces more than the 440, at 2.9 pounds. This model has Bluetooth compatibility so it can be used with wireless headphones or wired headphones. The 540 comes with rechargeable AA batteries and is the only model of Vanquish with rechargeable batteries. In this article, we will compare the Vanquish 440 to the 540 and ultimately decide which is better. We will declare a winner in the battle of the Minelab Vanquish 440 vs Vanquish 550 at the end!
