Description

Max Butcher, notorious bad boy as the community knows him. He is not a relationship type of guy and is proud of it. He is known for his reputation of fighting/boxing. Will this all change when Cassidy comes into his life or will he keep her at an arm's distance. For me it wasn't even about what happened, but was about how annoying as shit the characters were 😭- or to put it more ✨eloquently✨: was about how unbelievably immature the characters were barely that far into the story- and how unlikeable they became because of it? I can't get over the fact that she wanted him to forgive her 🧍‍♀️. This one was slightly darker than its predecessor and I really got a feel into just what Max’s life entails working in the district. We also get some questions finally answered some I guessed others I didn’t. We still don’t know everything but a picture has now started to form that is becoming clearer book by book.

I have so many words to say about this book but I find it hard to express how amazing it is. I won’t be giving any spoilers in this review because you just need to read it to believe it. I think I cried through the last 5 or so chapters. And I’m not a huge crier at all. I felt like the author completely tore me apart with her words. She made me feel like I was right their with them through this journey. I cried and laughed with them, I felt their sadness and pain. You will go through it all with them. I was so sad at the end, not because the book made me sad but because I could have read their story for days. I’m glad this isn’t the end of this series and we get Bronson’s story next. Just keeping my fingers crossed we don’t have to wait too long. Chapter 10 ~ "I love you Max Butcher," I whisper. "I don't deserve you" –he presses his lips to mine– "Cassidy Slater. I'm keeping you anyway. " ♥︎

Our Thing by Nicci Harris ePub Free PDF

Nicci Harris has written another winner within the series and I am excited to see what's in store for the "Kids of the District."

Chapter 31 "Were you ever going to tell me that you love me, Max?" He smiles softly. "If I don't will you still know?" " Yes." 😭 there are spoilers ahead but i feel like the trigger warning is more important than a spoiler warning The heroine, Fern is 18, grew up in the foster system, and she goes to Clay’s house for help with her pregnancy situation, since she thinks her long lost dad is there. He’s not, and little does Fern know that Clay is pretending to be generous and have her stay with him while he “looks for” her dad, but he’s REALLY planning to use her and her unborn son to lure out her dad to kill him. (The reason relates to events from earlier books…so this would be confusing if you read it as a standalone!) While this book is 100% from Cassidy's point of view I feel you still get a great read on Max. Cassidy falls fast as she is already half in love with Max before she's actually met him. After a drunken conversation at her birthday party Max feels a pull to Cassidy that he just can't avoid, No matter how much he wants to. Nobody seems to think Max and Cassidy are a good idea (including Max) But Cassidy believes in them and will do whatever it takes to show everyone they belong together. Nicci Harris has created something powerfully dark and mesmerizing within the district that is equal parts exciting and disturbing. She shines in crafting novels that toe the line between dark and dangerous, and sweet and sexy, which culminates into a deliciously sinful story of passion, truth, and acceptance.

See a Problem?

if you did enjoy this book, good for you, i’m not here to take away from your experience with this book This is the conclusion to Max and Cassidy’s story here we get to deal with the emotional aftermath of the fallout from book one and both Cassidy and Max are struggling. Cassidy because of what happened and Max because of his failure to keep her safe and the repercussions of all that. I relish the elevated romance within The Duet as the lines between love, desire, and obsession begin to blur creating an eruption of forbidden passion and ecstasy. Max and Cassidy's relationship is the type of love story that you love to hate, innately they know its bad for them, but like a slut for punishment, they pursue it anyway because in the immortal words of Cassidy, "avoiding conflict to prevent a battle, can often start a war on your heart."
