This just smell like hand cream on top notes smell ı really don't like it has lemon and citrus opening is too bad to me. Once the citrus notes fade away I noticed middle and especially base notes way better that turns a bit like barbershop smell thats not bad ı love barbershop smell clean well groomed kind of shaving foam smells love it. Although that’s the short answer, let’s go through the main differences between these two variations of fragrance in more detail, and also go through how to choose between them.

My first memories of perfume (or anything else) take me to a long time ago, I remember just a few things of that time, and one is that green plastic bottle of Brut. It was designed to be shaken with energy, so a few drops reach you. My father never liked any perfume, so the bottle became some kind of toy to me. The memory of the ylang-ylang - sandalwood chord still make me feel good. The only slight difference is the size – the Splash On tends to come in a larger volume of 7oz, whereas the aftershave tends to come in a 5oz bottle.

Although this might not be as large of a deciding factor, where you apply your chosen perfumed product can still be important.

Brut was born nearly 50 years ago. In the meantime, a lot of superb perfumes invaded our universe. But the truth is Brut was always here, around us, as a memento… as a olfactivo–historico–artifact of our unpretentious pleasure to smell something crispier than the fresh pure air.

Some men also like the cooling, refreshing feeling that comes with the added menthol in Brut aftershave. It's interesting... I've been kind of working my way through barbershop fragrances - a process involving some detective work and some drugstores - and recently ran into the glass bottle of 'Brut Classic' (circa 2008). I was surprised... I'd tried the plastic-bottled aftershave and something called 'special reserve'; neither of them are half as good as this. Sillage is fairly potent for the first 2-3 hours, and longevity is decent in this formulation ('classic') at 5+ hours. It's surprisingly confidence-inducing in that fougere manner, both pleasant and discreet at work if not over-applied. It takes some work to set aside the cultural baggage you may have, depending upon your age (I'm 44, probably the generation most likely to be haunted by the ghosts of authority figures past), but if you can, this is a surprisingly wearable scent... Everybody thinks this is a harsh old skool skanky scent! But its not! the scent lingers around like a fresh groomed hippie couple, im sure its been around in these hippie days on festivals. As for some reformulation, the scent that I have now is very close to that Deodorant I was used to. They smell the same basically. So, I´m sure what I knew that time (early 90's) is the same I´m smelling today. And so I´m glad to have bought it. BRUT Splash On earns a SpongeScore of 4/10: a milder-scented, slightly less disappointing way to experience BRUT that plays nicer with your perfume collection.

One of the most noticeable differences between Brut Splash On and Brut After shave (or Brut AS for short), is that the aftershave contains menthol, whereas the Splash On does not. Although it may be confusing at first glance, hopefully, you understand a little more clearly the subtle differences between the Brut Aftershave and the Brut Splash On. So why the awful score? Basically, the fragrances of the Aftershave and Splash On fall short of the standard set by the various colognes in every possible way. I've tried wearing BRUT aftershave with a handful of fragrances. The anosmia it triggered 100% impacted the way the perfumes smelled and never in a good way. The only fragrance that seemed to get along with BRUT aftershave was, um, BRUT cologne. If you're already going to wear the cologne, why use the matching aftershave when its performance is so poor? Fougéres are my 'bread and butter' fragrances. I have three natural artisan ones, and own six different profiled ones from an assortment of brands. Ranging from mostly traditional and aromatic. The reference points are well known, and I'm obsessed with the family. As I mentioned before, both Brut Aftershave and Brut Splash On have the same fragrance made up of citrus-y top notes, with a hint of greenery and undertones of sandalwood. In actual fact, both scents are made up of similar notes, it is simply the differing alcohol content that causes them to be experienced in different ways. If I like the scent of the aftershave, would the plastic bottle cologne version be pretty close to that? A weaker version of the EdT without the overly strong spice and powder dry down? Is it essentially the same thing as the original Brut 33?
