Come to Grandpa,” Lou said, holding his hands out to Bridget. “I promise I’ll always have candy for you.” She balked shyly for a moment, but the word candy worked its magic, and she reached for him.

She released my belt and took me by the hand, leading me into the living room, where our wedding portrait hung above the fireplace. It still hit me in the chest every time I looked at it. Naomi—breathtaking and blushing in her gown, the daisies woven into her hair like a crown. She had her arm around Waylay, who had insisted on a floor-length lemon-yellow gown and daisies of her own. They both were laughing. As for me? I looked pretty damn good in my suit. And pretty damn happy as I looked after my wife and daughter. She cries to a complete stranger and asks him: please, help me, what should I do? 5 times in the first two chapters. The fact that a 40 year old man finds a broken shell of a woman attractive is a red flag of its own. I almost forgot that one of Knox's main character traits is that he won the lottery. And when it's first mentioned, they talk about how Knox was smart with his money and didn't blow it all on random things, so he's still a millionaire today. But throughout the entire book, Knox is so stupid with money. He quite literally throws his money at people to buy their affection. He likes to use his money to try and control people and resorts to bribery to get his way. And I'm supposed to believe this is a guy who is smart and benevolent with his money? Nope.We hadn’t even had time to get their rooms ready when the call came. Three-year-old Bridget and her brand-new baby sister, Gillian. The physical connection between them is incendiary, grounding him and making her wonder if exploring it is worth the risk. Waylay’s boyfriend, Theo, stepped forward and pulled her into his side. I glared at him, but it didn’t have the heat it usually did. “Theo,” I said.

Naomi and Knox have an interesting meet cute. When Naomi rolls into town with daisies in her hair she doesn’t expect the welcome she gets. See, her twin sister who is basically a menace to the town, asks for her help. When Naomi shows, she is, of course, mistaken for the twin. That lasts for a bit but ultimately she carves her own place out in town, along with her niece who she’s taking care of. City girl Calla Fletcher flies out to Alaska to reconnect with her estranged father Wren after learning that his days are numbered. But when it comes time to leave the beautiful state behind, Calla finds herself pulled in two different directions: one pushing her to the bustling city of Toronto and the other to the brutally honest, rugged Alaskan pilot Jonah. Call Me Irresistible by Susan Elizabeth Phillips My wife was a dirty liar because I could already see the sheen gathering in those hazel eyes I loved so damn much.Goodreads Librarians are volunteers who help ensure the accuracy of information about books and authors in the Goodreads' catalog. While I understand the story needed more depth, I am unsure if this plot twist really worked. It felt a bit forced. She was seventeen now, and I had heart palpitations every time I thought about her leaving us for college in a year. I wasn’t ready. But I knew from the look on her face that she’d be making more trips home than she’d originally planned to be with her sisters. And the spice, well, if you like it… it’s very much there. This was, at its core, a romance of two unlikely people, and the witty supporting cast that surrounded them was more than entertaining. I thought I was deluding myself when I finished this book?! I thought to myself, “did I really love this??? Or was this just the first book I got excited for in what feels like a while??”

a nosey town full of people way too invested in this couples business and literally turn against him when he breaks up with her Just like the above sentence from this book, this isn't what readers like me too wanted. This was a strange book where the characters behaved in bizarre ways. The main characters, Naomi and Knox, are both above 35 years. Yet, they are acting like irritating kindergarten kids who are obsessed with actions similar to Disney characters in some parts of the book and like toxic, emotionally manipulating, and stalking characters in the other parts. The agency called three days ago and said we had two little girls ready to join the family,” I explained. “We didn’t want to tell anyone until we got them home.” Oh Julia, but it's fiction. Give it a rest. I have a list of romantic comedies with sunshine and grumpy characters that were written like a damn masterpiece. This one is just bad, I am sorry. A hot, short-term fling with a local cop? Absolutely. Sign her up. A relationship with a man who expects her to plant roots? No freaking way.here’s how I picture Knox… you know that guy on TikTok with the axe who breaks apart those tree trunks??? THAT MAN???? In my head, that’s him 🤪 (If you don’t like fan casting, then just forget I said anything 😐) Authors, if you are a member of the Goodreads Author Program, you can edit information about your own books.
