Ma adesso andiamo a scoprire di cosa parla questo secondo volume ma vi avverto: per evitare spoiler non andate oltre nella lettura se non avete letto il primo volume. The story begins with a little girl, called Imogen, who follows a moth into another world. The place she discovers is populated by monsters and bears and a prince who lives in a tower.But Imogen is followed too… by her annoying little sister. Before she gets home, Imogen must learn to sort the truths from the myths and the outright lies. Chris Riddell’s amazing illustrations fuel the imagination, leaving us longing to know what happens next. Gibbons, who worked as a copywriter at a marketing agency before leaving to focus on her career as a children’s author, added: “Being published by HarperCollins and working with Chris Riddell is a dream come true – not just for grown-up Fran, but for my 12-year-old self. That’s how old I was when I first had the idea for the story. I still can’t quite believe that it’s going to be read by other children – and maybe a few adults too.”

Bevor ich mit dem Lesen begann, hatte ich dem Buch noch einmal schnell auf Lovelybooks einen kurzen Besuch abgestattet und dabei erstaunt festgestellt, dass die Bewertungen insgesamt nicht allzu positiv sind. Meine große Vorfreude auf „Das Geheimnis der Sternenuhr“ erhielt unweigerlich einen kleinen Dämpfer, muss ich gestehen. Zugleich steigerte sich aber auch meine Neugierde. Wie wird wohl mir die Geschichte gefallen? Werde ich ebenfalls, wie so manch andere, enttäuscht von ihr sein? The characters are slightly underwhelming however they have grown from the previous book which made me start to like them, although the jury is still out on Imogen. Miro's character development was the best. It gained a lot of layers with the addition of royal schemes, horrifying monsters, and the nitty gritty of adventuring.

Auch die Namen mancher Figuren sind ungewohnt, was ich schön finde, vielleicht für den ein oder anderen gewöhnungsbedürftig. In der Danksagung wird es erwähnt, wo die Inspiration dazu kommt. So you can understand why I was overjoyed to discover that this book will in fact be a part of a trilogy! (I absolutely can't wait to be reunited with these characters 😍) This was a really good sequel that I found to be better than the first book, it was more darker and suspenseful! For younger readers this does have mentions of murder, drowning, monsters, and kidnapping, but I found it thrilling to the story. The world is creative with flavours of Eastern Europe, described in smooth and easy storytelling to understand.

And when danger threatens the kingdom and the crew are getting ready to save it, you start biting your nails. I watched their friendship grow and loved it. What I loved the most was watching Imogen get closer to her little sister Marie. That special sister bond was beautiful! Francesca Gibbons’s writing is so captivating, the world building phenomenal and the action suspenseful.

Inside this room are three gaps for cog cubes and two switches, one on either side of the middle gap. Pull the switch on the left and the cube cog will open up from the ground. Next, pull the switch on the right to open a few obstacles in the puzzle area. A stunning cast of characters and settings have been created.
