They did it for charity, but they came out the winners – always. Now it’s time for the Christmas number one to have a gorgeous, new era. Perhaps it will go to something political, a la The Kunts. Perhaps it will go to a festive classic, like Mariah Carey or Wham. I’d be keen to see a renaissance for a newer Christmas classic, like Kelly Clarkson’s Underneath The Tree or Ariana’s Santa Tell Me. As long as I’m not hearing about sausage rolls, it will be a very merry Christmas indeed. Related stories recommended by this writer: At least Johnson is doing better than Rishi Sunak, the actual prime minister, who can be found only as one of several images on a coaster set and matching framed print. Even Keir Starmer appears on his own flip-flops (get it?), and on a satirical Christmas card reading: “All I want for Christmas is EU”. And given only a third of Britons now think Brexit was the right decision, they may well sell lots of that one. Dean Chapman, McDonald’s Franchisee manager said: “I am pleased MyMcDonald’s Rewards has launched in Birmingham and I know our customers will love earning and enjoying rewards on some of their favourite menu items. It was great to have LadBaby and LadBaby Mum here to help us with the launch at my Bristol Road restaurant in Birmingham. I am used to buying a Forest shirt but I wear that every match for a year. The England one is a lot more expensive for a shorter window."

Earlier this week he put a call out to companies in a bid to produce a more affordable range of shirts with slogans such as Come on England and It's Coming Home.Lydia Bolton, the slow fashion designer who created the three Lidl jumpers, said: “Designing and producing these jumpers inspired by Christmas icons from secondhand textiles has been super fun and creative, but knowing they are going to be rented and reworn also supports my mission of valuing and reusing textiles.” To facilitate the rental of Lidl’s limited-edition jumpers made from upcycled textiles, the supermarket has partnered with By Rotation, a peer-to-peer rental app akin to Airbnb but for designer fashion, which is championed by figures such as Dame Helen Mirren, Chrissy Rutherford and Abisola Omole.

Mark, 34, said: "We know from that how 14 million people are living below the poverty line. I might be able to afford it but a lot of people in this country can't."

Since 2018, Mark and Roxanne Hoyle – a duo known tediously as LadBaby – have ran five successful consecutive campaigns to get to the coveted Christmas number one spot on the UK chart. As someone under the age of 30 who uses the internet to find content more amusing than watching two aging millennials fake pranks and marital sagas, I had never heard of LadBaby until this 2018 venture that has caused me nothing but migraines for half a decade. Boy oh boy, do I now know of LadBaby. Don’t we all. But today, the end is officially nigh – Mark and Roxanne Hoyle have confirmed LadBaby will not be entering the ring for the Christmas number one this year – it’s over. Today is a great day for music, and here’s why this entire saga has always been nothing but dark sided, self serving and insidious. The town clerk at March town council, Sarah Lemmon, launched an excoriating takedown of the wonky tree’s detractors, criticising “the cancel culture mentality of a moaning minority” who, she argued, were “trying to kill the spirit of Christmas”. Dozens of people debated the wonky tree when a photo appeared on a Facebook group, with some calling it “embarrassing” and others praising the work of volunteers from the March Christmas lights committee. LadBaby and LadBaby Mum rewarded McDonald’s fans with thousands of free points and exclusive merch as they took over the Drive-Thru for the day for the launch of MyMcDonald’s Rewards, the brand’s first ever rewards scheme. McDonald’s teamed up with TV presenter Rylan to lead the ultimate ‘Rewards Squad’ featuring a star-studded cast of celebrities who embarked on a tour of the UK and brought a series of surprising moments to customers across the nation. It refuses to submit to the cancel culture mentality of a moaning minority. I, personally, wish to thank everyone involved in organising and staging our spectacular Christmas display. The time, energy and effort involved is rarely recognised or valued. I feel very proud that our Christmas lights put March on the map and help to spread joy to so many.”
