Making your own DIY Pon can be a great choice if you need larger quantities or want to reserve some to the side for the future. If you only need a smaller quantity, it may be more cost-effective to try out Lechuza-Pon brand substrate or someone else’s DIY Pon mix available on Etsy etc. before investing.

Når du vælger potter bør du desuden være opmærksom på at drænhullerne ikke er for store, så pon ikke falder ud af hullerne. I så fald bør du dække hullerne til med et net eller lignende. Overflytning af planter fra jord til pon The shift to Pon does have a few unique requirements. Unlike Leca, if you have a good source of Pon like Lechuza, you do not need to pre-rinse Pon before potting up, saving a huge amount of time. You can pre-rinse if you like, but it's not necessary. The first water after planting is normally plenty to flush out any dust or fines, however Pon is very low in fines compared to Leca. It's often recommended to plant in to dry Pon. You don’t have to used Lechuza self watering planters to use pon: you can use a sealed bottom planter or open drainage planter: lots of people used clear plastic sealed containers with pon so they can see what’s happening at root level.Do I have to root a cutting in pon or can I just transfer a plant from soil? Both can be done, depends on your comfort level. I have rooted cuttings and transferred full plants from moss and soil to pon. The most important thing to ensure a smooth conversion to pon is to once again, abide by Step 4: Do not water for 2 weeks after repotting! This means do not fill the reservoir with water, do not get the pon wet. This allows the roots to acclimate to the new media. Pon Soil is a growing substrate that does not contain actual soil. It is a mix consisting of zeolite, lava, pumice, and slow-release fertilizer. It can be used for indoor and outdoor plants and is a way of growing plants semi-hydroponics. The manufacturer of Pon is the German brand Lechuza. Frequently Asked Questions About Lechuza Pon Where does Lechuza Pon come from?

A lot of tropical plants need a loose well-draining potting mix that consists of chunky bits such as perlite, pumice, orchid bark, and charcoal. Jane: One of the other questions that really came up so often when I asked listeners about Pon, is rinsing. So, a question of, "Does Pon need to be rinsed before it's used?" I've got people who want to rinse a whole bag in one go, people who don't want to rinse it, people who want to rinse a little bit at a time. Give me the lowdown on rinsing. The other way Pon can be used is just mixed evenly in to soil or potting mix to make it heavier, airier and more free draining. This can be cumbersome and the negative effects of overwatering can be that you lose your leafy friend. This procedure was learned from moving plants from the soil over to clay balls also called leca or hydroton.
