Description

Shifty Eyed Spies is one of those games in which there’s going to be a lot of laughter and giggles as you play: just what you want from a party game.

BUT! And it’s a big but! If you are spotted winking at a player by another player they have two options: Shifty Eyed Spies is all about sending secret signals to fellow players while keeping an eye on everyone else to make sure they’re not doing exactly the same thing! Each player starts the game with three intercept tokens. If you ever think you see players signal to each other, you may spend an intercept token and announce what you think you saw. You may guess either a receive or deliver card, or both. The cards you guess are revealed and you score the ones you were right about and the players with the cards score the ones you were incorrect about. To set the game up you place the four locations around the table at a good spacing apart in view of everyone and hand out three binocular tokens to each player. I’d recommend everyone sit so they can see everyone’s face as well! Then, in turn, each player is handed the briefcase (active player token) and they collect two cards; a target to meet and a location to be met at. And then the anarchy begins! Pet Habitats and Supplies, Apparel and Leashes, Training and Behavior Aids, Toys, Aquarium Supplies such as Pumps, Filters and Lights 15 Days ReturnableEveryone assumes being a spy is glamorous, glitzy, gun-filled and great. A bit of espionage here and there, maybe a stolen dossier or two? Martinis with beautiful people and a villain who monologues his plan right before you save the world. Does that sound accurate? Well, sadly it’s a lie. James Bond is a lie. Especially if you’re playing Shifty Eyed Spies by Big G Creative.

The design of the game is fantastic. It’s clear how the game works from the outset, the spy cards are colour coded so if you are amongst new players you can say you’re meeting Blue as opposed to fumbling about remembering names (not an excuse to forget someone’s name). The different meeting points are all different enough so that you would be able to say what they were easily. It requires no reading and no prior understanding of the art of espionage, just a sharp set of eyes and a stealthy method of notification. To set the game up you place the four locations around the table at a good spacing apart in view of everyone and hand out three binocular tokens to each player. I'd recommend everyone sit so they can see everyone's face as well! Then, in turn, each player is handed the briefcase (active player token) and they collect two cards; a target to meet and a location to be met at. And then the anarchy begins! Shifty Eyed Spies can be hard to grasp at first but after you have been round the table once everyone gets it and falls into furtive glances trying to suss out where others are winking while slyly winking themselves. It makes for an excellent party game with just the right amount of laughs and just the right amount of game.Shifty Eyed Spies definitely works best with large groups, however we've had a blast with four people twitching like they're guilty as sin! There is a feeling you're missing out on things when playing this, you can't watch everyone and when people announce their meet ups, there can be a feeling of being alienated... But that's the point of being a spy! If everyone knew what was happening, you'd all be terrible spies. As soon as you have your cards you can begin trying to set up your mission. Your goal is to wink at the player who owns the spy that is shown on the deliver card in your hand, but not to be observed by anyone else. If your wink is seen by the spy in question, that spy must then discreetly shift their eyes towards the location standee that matches the location on their receive card, again without being observed by any other players. The game also moves at a good pace. The limited number of interceptor tokens, as well as players scoring if you guess wrong when intercepting, means that you must be careful when choosing to intercept — and when you do, progress is always made whether you're right or wrong.

This can be done through a nod or something of the likes, but it must still be done silently without attracting attention. Once you’ve got your location, wait for your turn then announce who and where, confirm you’re correct and collect your next target! The design of the game is fantastic.
