Despite their relatively recent foundation, the grim Space Marine brotherhood known as the Wolfspear have already proved themselves to be fearsome and ruthless hunters, honouring the genetic legacy of their primarch. Wherever they stalk, the Wolfspear prey upon the enemies of Mankind with a dark hunger intensified by blood-sworn battle oaths and a fierce loyalty to kith and kin. They especially appreciate acts of bravery, courage and skill among their own comrades, and proudly display badges that denote these acts. These badges are normally painted or carved onto the armour and weapons of the Space Wolf.

New detachments: The new detachments are a big success, and each one is an interesting spin on playing Space Marines in different ways – list variety should massively increase, and there’s something here for every Marine faction and playstyle – including the divergent Chapters Under Russ' brash leadership the Space Wolves had other incidents with their allied Astartes Legion. This included the Night of the Wolf against the World Eaters and a brief bloody confrontation on Ark Reach Secundus with the Thousand Sons. It was also hinted that the Space Wolves, serving as the Emperor's executioners, may have had something to do with the disappearance of the Two Lost Legions [16]; according to members of the Adeptus Custodes, they were among the first respondents to an act of betrayal involving the XI Legion. [62] Battle Tanks ( Predators, Land Raiders, Repulsor Executioners, Whirlwinds, Vindicators, Gladiators, Hunters, Stalkers) Due to the wide-ranging nature of the Wolfspear's mission and fighting style, the Chapter is highly decentralised in its command structure, and each jarl -- as its Wolf Lords choose to be known -- leads his own warriors as he sees fit, consulting with the Wolf Priests, Rune Priests and Iron Priests who accompany him. Only at times of utmost need do the jarls look to a higher authority to govern their actions, and in these circumstances a "high jarl" is nominated from amongst the seven: one tasked with uniting the jarldoms to bring down a formidable foe or lend the full weight of the Chapter to wider Imperial objectives.Recently however in the Ultima Founding the Space Wolves have received their first stable successor chapters, in the Icefangs, [61] Mooneaters [56] and the Wolfspear. [54] They have confirmed multiple successors within the Ultima Founding, and these display both the effects of the Canis Helix and the ability of their Librarians to control the tempestous powers of Fenris. The returned Roboute Guilliman has tried to better integrate these successors within the wider Imperium, but just as with the Space Wolves they remain culturally distinct and fiercely independent. [53b] Great Company ( Elva) — Known as the Sea-Flame's Bearers. Consisted of at least 9,200 Space Marines, primarily veterans drawn from Terra before the discovery of Leman Russ. The gene-seed of the Space Wolves gifts the chapter's members with enhanced, animalistic abilities, including hyper-acute senses of hearing and smell, and a ferocity in battle that is almost unrivalled by any other Space Marine. [8f] The gene-seed also induces physical changes in the Wolves more extreme than those of other genetically-modified humans, such as elongated canines, shaggy hair that becomes grey, then pure white as the Wolf ages, and sometimes pale yellow eyes. After the Horus Heresy civil war, the loyalist Space Marine legions were broken down into smaller chapters. So few of the Wolves of Russ remained that there were only enough marines to form a single successor chapter, the Wolf Brothers – and rampant genetic mutation brought this doomed brotherhood to ruin. According to this source, following the defeat of the forces of Chaos during the Indomitus Crusade, the newly-established Wolfspear Chapter were charged by the Primarch Roboute Guilliman with standing eternal vigil over the 108/Beta-Kalapus-9.2 System for any further Chaos incursions.
