Julia Donaldson and illustrator Sharon King-Chai have put together this BEAUTIFUL alphabet book FULL of animals. I really enjoy writing verse, even though it can be fiendishly difficult. I used to memorise poems as a child and it means a lot to me when parents tell me their child can recite one of my books.I love that it’s an alphabet book connected to animals! My only wish would be that it the story had been a little simpler, and not tried to connect each animal to the next. Some of the connections were a little tenuous and the book didn’t need them anyway in my opinion! Ditto loves flaps and was more interested in seeing what is behind each flap than the related text but this is a book that will grow with the child and can be read and enjoyed over the years to come.

When I opened this up at my front door I am not exaggerating when I say my heart SKIPPED A BEAT! This is absolutely the most beautiful children’s book I have ever seen in my life! The colours and illustrations are just GORGEOUS! I was afraid to let my kids read it in case they ripped it! My daughter just wanted to grab at it so I kept it out of her reach because I didn’t want her to destroy it! This is a great book for 5-8 year olds which encourages them to use their knowledge of the alphabet and the animal kingdom to try and guess what animal is coming up next. It is time to think about Christmas cards - and this is something I can definitely help you with.
