Harry Potter: The Blueprints - Jody Revenson - AbeBooks

This remarkable collection showcases the work of the incredible artists who laid the foundation for the visually enchanting magical landscapes of the beloved films. From Hogwarts to Hogsmeade, learn how the creative team envisioned the unique architecture of the wizarding world and built the films’ iconic locations and scenes. The Defense Against the Dark Arts office is apparently able to see the Quidditch Pitch and the Lake at once. Given the description of how to get there from the greenhouses, it is clear that this is simply an inconsistency. I made my decision based on the relative importance of the two scenes in which the view is mentioned; I wanted Harry to be able to watch Quidditch tryouts during detention with Dolores. If you assume that each house, gender, and year gets its own room, then you have to find places for a total of 56 different dormitories in which to put them. That would mean 14 rooms above the Gryffindor common room alone—and it’s already on the 7 th floor. In the interest of space, therefore, I’ve marked the places where I assume the dormitories to be, and have left it to magic to sort out. Perhaps there’s some kind of Expansion Charm involved. The fifth floor of Hogwarts is home to the Ravenclaw Common Room, the Hufflepuff Common Room, and Professor Umbridge’s Office. The Ravenclaw Common Room is a cozy room filled with books and comfortable seating, while the Hufflepuff Common Room is decorated with bright colors and plenty of house pride. Professor Umbridge’s Office is her personal workspace and it’s filled with dark decorations and strange artifacts.FILMMAKING SECRETS:Learn how Hogwarts and other locations in the wizarding world went from sketch to screen. The fourth floor of Hogwarts houses the Charms classroom, the Divination classroom, and the Astronomy Tower. The Charms classroom is where students learn the art of magic, while the Divination classroom is where they practice reading tarot cards and crystal balls. Finally, the Astronomy Tower is where students can observe the stars and planets and is home to the school’s telescope.

Events A Financial Times Best Summer Book 2023** Out now: a gripping look at the rise of the microchip and the British tech company behind the blueprint to it all. 'A gripping and inspiring read.' Sir James Dyson 'A revealing and insightful biography of the company whose blueprints define the digital world.' Chris Miller, author of CHIP WAR: The Fight for the World's Most Critical Technology '[A] sparkly corporate biography.' Financial Times __________ One tiny device lies at the heart of the world's relentless technological advance: the microchip. Today, these slivers of silicon are essential to running just about any machine, from household devices and factory production lines to smartphones and cutting-edge weaponry. At the centre of billions of these chips is a blueprint created and nurtured by a single company: Arm. Founded in Cambridge in 1990, Arm's designs have been used an astonishing 250 billion times and counting. The UK's high-tech crown jewel is an indispensable part of a global supply chain driven by American brains and Asian manufacturing brawn that has become the source of rising geopolitical tension. With exclusive interviews and exhaustive research, The Everything Blueprint tells the story of Arm, from humble beginnings to its pivotal role in the mobile phone revolution and now supplying data centres, cars and the supercomputers that harness artificial intelligence. It explores the company's enduring relationship with Apple and numerous other tech titans, plus its multi-billion-pound sale to the one-time richest man in the world, Japan's Masayoshi Son. The Everything Blueprint details the titanic power struggle for control of the microchip, through the eyes of a unique British enterprise that has found itself in the middle of that battle. __________ With the finalization of my interpretation of Rowling’s footprint, I began looking through the books to find the information I would need. I collected information in four main ways. The Entrance Hall seems to be the normal meeting place for students. The Great Hall hosts feasts, balls, the short-lived Duelling Club, and even the odd slumber party (thanks to Sirius). Remus Lupin began a memorable year in the Staff Room, by making Neville turn Snape the Boggart into Snape the Transvestite. Secrets and Spells The second floor of Hogwarts contains the library, the trophy room, and the hospital wing. The library is one of the most famous rooms in the castle and is home to thousands of magical books. It’s filled with shelves stretching up to the ceiling and filled with enchanted objects such as talking portraits and floating candles. The trophy room is filled with awards and trophies won by Hogwarts students, including the House Cup and the Quidditch Cup. Finally, the hospital wing is where students go when they’re injured or ill and is run by Madam Pomfrey, the school nurse. Finally, the dungeons of Hogwarts contain the Potions classroom, the detention area, and the Chamber of Secrets. The Potions classroom is the place where students learn to brew potions and concoctions, while the detention area is where students are sent if they break the school rules. The Chamber of Secrets is a secret chamber located beneath the school and is home to an ancient and powerful creature. The seventh floor of Hogwarts is home to the Room of Hidden Things and the Room of Mirrors. The Room of Hidden Things is a magical room that can only be accessed by those with pure hearts. It’s filled with strange artifacts and enchanted objects. The Room of Mirrors is filled with mirrors that reflect the hopes and dreams of those who enter, allowing them to glimpse their future. In this article, we will explore the Hogwarts blueprints all floors, taking a closer look at the intricacies of each level and the secrets they may hold. With detailed descriptions, we’ll break down what each floor entails, from the grand halls of the Great Hall to the mysterious depths of the dungeons. We’ll also discuss the various features of the castle and how they might have been used by its inhabitants. So, let’s get started and explore the world of Hogwarts! The first floor of Hogwarts is home to the Great Hall, the entrance hall, and various classrooms. The Great Hall is the largest room in the castle and is where important ceremonies and events take place. It’s decorated with a long wooden table that can seat hundreds of students, flanked by four large fireplaces. At the front of the hall is a large marble staircase that leads to the next floor. The entrance hall is the main portal to the castle and is where visitors enter through the main gates. This hall is adorned with a large chandelier, colorful banners, and a large marble fountain. Finally, there are several classrooms located on this floor, including Potions, Charms, and Transfiguration.

FILMMAKING SECRETS: Learn how Hogwarts and other locations in the wizarding world went from sketch to screen. Finally, I listed the views that characters mention from various windows at different locations within the castle. If the Gryffindor Tower dormitory could see the Whomping Willow, then the floor plans had to reflect that. The third floor of Hogwarts is home to the Prefects’ bathroom and the Restricted Section. The Prefects’ bathroom is a magical bathroom that can only be accessed by prefects, and it’s filled with strange and wonderful creatures. The Restricted Section is a private area of the library that can only be entered by those with special permission. It’s filled with powerful and dangerous books, many of which are forbidden to most students. My first interpretation of this basic shape reflected two simple goals: the placement of windows, and the creation of courtyards. My second interpretation was much more rectilinear. I was focused on making the castle appear historically accurate, and thus the second draft was born. I studied architecture, focusing on castles, fortresses, palaces, manor houses… anything that would be useful to me as I constructed Hogwarts. (I was very surprised to discover last summer that during my trip to Europe, I could tell the difference between 10th and 15th century cathedral windows at a glance!) A few years ago I came across a footprint of Hogwarts, drawn by JK Rowling herself. Unfortunately, it looked like this:

Historical accuracy was almost as difficult to achieve as canonical accuracy. There’s a very simple explanation for this: Hogwarts in its entirety is a 13-story Scottish castle from the 11th century. There were no 13-story castles in Scotland in the 11th century! They simply did not exist. (Let me make it clear at this point that I’d already realized that Hogwarts didn’t exist. I had known it ever since the age of eleven, when I hadn’t received my letter. What further proof could there possibly be?)The Harry Potter Series Official Art Settings Drawings Book Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft Wizardry With Many Blueprints Layout Released 23 Dec 2022 Harry Potter: The Blueprints showcases the work of the artists who laid the foundation for the visually enchanting buildings, homes, rooms, and settings from all eight Harry Potter films.
