Seemingly selected at random from some sort of need-based selection process, the fourteen individuals are complete strangers and come from locations scattered throughout the United States. With two contestants getting caught and out of the game each day, the tension increasingly mounts. Additionally, it's not clear at all who, or what, the Seekers are.

Creature these crazy people summoned or whatever to eat peeps every seven years so they could have great lives. JerksAll in all Hide turned out to be a solid start to a new detective series, and a serial killer thriller that is both gruesome and strangely entertaining once you get past the large cast of characters and slower start. Recommended if you enjoy the genre and don't mind your thrillers on the dark side! The art was gorgeous, bright and colourful. Maybe could have had some changes to the layout, there was just a lot of yellow commentary boxes through most of it. But overall amazing.

Little anti-climatic at the end with the non event killing of the serial killer/kidnapper Tom and his past. I may be the exception but I like closure to some key themes such as how many people has Tom killed over the years, when did Amelia start killing, etc. And the stakes are about to get higher and higher after the body of a young woman is found near the Riverwalk by a woman out for a run. A young man is hunched over unconscious near the scene. All eyes are on nineteen year old Keith Ainsley. But did he do it? Scott Peterson, Veronica Fish, and Andy Fish I have to say thank you for bringing one of my favorite books to such a vibrant and visually gratifying version, I had very high hopes for this one and you exceeded all of them. I do not intend to say much about the book itself. It began well enough, but about half-way through the plot(s) started to meander, revealing this piece of important information, then that piece, eventually draining the book of almost all its dramatic tension, leaving little or nothing to the listener's imagination by the end of the story. Opening - There is reasons for wanting to get off this stall. Not that I been here long. I only been here a month. Mortimer has been here longer, that's my friend. He's been here since before Easter. A change is as good as a rest, I tell him. He likes it though. There is plenty other jobs, I tell him, this time a year, plenty, but he don't want to move.

Thank you so much NetGalley and the publisher for the review copy in exchange for my honest review! On your iPhone, open the Books app, then tap Library. On your iPad, go to Library in the sidebar. Then tap Books or Audiobooks. Shoutout to NetGalley and Ten Speed Press for this ARC! I was so excited to see that Hide by Kiersten White was becoming a graphic novel. I think it is such a good book for this medium. I read Hide as an ARC in 2021 and I absolutely could not put it down. This adaptation was no different. The concept of a game of hide and seek in an abandoned amusement park is already fascinating, but add in potential paranormal events and people who are desperate to win the cash prize, you have yourself a good horror.

Hide by Kiersten White | Waterstones

The surprising horror element was thrown into this equation adroitly. It fits with the entire execution. Trigger/Content Warnings: murder, blood and gore, suicide, murder of children, loss of parents, loss of a sibling, homelessness, homophobia, sexism, racism, classism, animal death, high-demand religion/cult (mentioned)i dont want this to turn into a massive rant, so i will try to keep my disappointments brief. - the direction the plot eventually goes in doesnt fit the tone the novel begins with I actually was expecting something different to this when I went into it, some more horror and less adventure. Not that there isn't horror and gore of course, and the monster too, but it wasn't what I expected. As someone that's not big on graphic novels... (let's face it this is only my 8th) I was obsessed with this one, once I started it I couldn't put it down. The imagery is amazing and I couldn't believe how many of the images were exactly what I had pictured. On your iPhone, openthe Books app, then tap Library. On your iPad, go to Library in the sidebar.
