Miniatures in Space– We’re shown the use of miniatures in the film with respect to the scale and so on.

Interstellar [2014] (4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray) – Warner Bros

Celestial Landmarks– An explanation as to some of the scientific facts that influenced the story as well as a brief lesson on astrology. The Science of 'Interstellar' (HD 50 min.) – McConaughey provides the narration as the film's more scientific elements are explained and dissected by scientist Kip Thorne. The Cosmic Sounds of Interstellar (13:40) - Hans Zimmer discusses how he wrote and recorded the score for the film. Starring: Matthew McConaughey , Anne Hathaway , Jessica Chastain , Ellen Burstyn , John Lithgow , Michael Caine Blu-ray.com and Paramount Home Entertainment are offering three members the opportunity to win a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray copy of director Christopher Nolan's Interstellar (2014), starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Ellen Burstyn, and John ...TARS and CASE– A closer look at the two robots in the film, their “inspiration”, the voices used and the mechanics of both. The Space Suits– Nothing too mind-blowing here, just a look at the space suits, how they really don’t differ too much from those used today as well as the practical fit for the actors. Final Thoughts– Just that. The cast and crew give us their impressions on the film as a whole and its possible repercussions on the real-world. Plot: What’s it about? Video: How’s it look? Audio: How’s it sound? Supplements: What are the extras? The Bottom Line Plot: What’s it about? The Science of Interstellar– This 50 minute documentary is narrated by McConaughey (much more understandable here than in a majority of the film, I might add) and takes us through a lot of the literal science that’s included in the film. Together with Physicist Kip Thorne who also served as the film’s Executive Producer, we learn some of the logistics in the film, the creative licenses (not) taken and get a crash course in Einstein’s Theory of Relativity. Inside 'Interstellar' (HD, 1 hr. 50 min.) – This behind-the-scenes documentary features 14 featurettes: "Plotting an 'Interstellar' Journey," "Life on Cooper's Farm," "The Dust," "Tars and Case," "The Cosmic Sounds of 'Interstellar,'" "The Space Suits," "The Endurance," "Shooting in Iceland: Miller's Planet/Mann's Planet," "The Ranger and the Lander," "Miniatures in Space," "The Simulation of Zero-G," "Celestial Landmarks," "Across All Dimensions and Time," "and "Final Thoughts." As you can tell from the titles they cover just about every interesting aspect of the film's production. Ones to really watch are "Tars and Case," which discusses the practical and digital effects that went into the movie's unique robots and "Miniatures in Space" which shows how some of the awesome deep space images were created and filmed. This three disc set contains two of the discs, each containing a movie (the Ultra HD on one and the Blu-ray on the other). The special features are all found on the third disc.

TARS and CASE (09:27) - A detailed look at the two intelligent mobile machines in the film, how they were designed and brought to life for the film. When Cooper learns that NASA has remained active, in secret, he's called upon by old friend Professor Brand (Michael Caine) to save humanity. No matter how much corn they try to grow, humankind will eventually succumb to the Earth's dusty future. Extinction of the human race is inevitable if they can't find a new place to live. A worm hole next to Saturn is discovered. Viable worlds lay in wait on the other side. Cooper, along with Brand's daughter (Anne Hathaway), and a small team set out to find out what's on the other side of the worm hole. Inside Interstellar– The rest of the segments are all found housed under this umbrella. Totaling just over two hours, these 14 featureless explain pretty much all you’d need to know about the film. Here’s what to expect from each: Over the past decade and a half Christopher Nolan has established himself as one of the premier Directors. That’s a bold statement as the film industry has a lot of talent out there. Maybe a better phrasing would be “…has established himself as one of the most consistent Directors.” Beginning with Memento in 2000 where we met a man who suffered from short-term memory loss, he helmed the reboot of the Batman franchise. A few billion dollars later he blew our collective minds with the aptly-named Inception. So when it was announced that he’d direct the long-awaited Interstellar, which once had Steven Spielberg’s name attached to it, people took notice. It didn’t hurt the film with a freshly-crowned Oscar winner by the name of Matthew McConaughey in the lead role, either. With Nolan’s attention to detail, his own brother (Jonathan) as co-writer and a top notch cast – the die was set. Life on Cooper's Farm (09:43) - The story of the lengths the filmmakers went to to create a corn working outside Calgary in Canada, including building a farm house for exterior and interior photography and growing 500 acres of corn.

Across All Dimensions and Time—A look at the concept and design of the Tesseract, which incorporated a practical set rather than a green screen. As with past filmed-on-IMAX Nolan pictures, 'Interstellar' features alternating aspect ratios. The standard 2.39:1 is employed for dialogue-centric scenes, whereas the 1.78:1 ratio is doled out for all the exciting visual stuff. Aspect ratio changes can be jarring, but they aren't here. They flow quite well with the overall pacing of the story, so they're not overtly distracting.Across All Dimensions and Time– A pretty comprehensive look at the design and thought that went into the Tesseract that played a major part in the third act of the film. TARS and CASE—Designing and building these unique characters and how they were brought to life on set and in the film. The Spacesuits (04:31) - The design and construction of the film's spacesuits is covered along with the challenges of acting in them. Christopher Nolan films often appear crafted for demo purposes, with fantastic visuals and jaw-dropping IMAX sequences that demand to be shown off. Yet they’ve almost universally been peppered – not plagued, mind you – with minor issues that tend to leave them always running just shy of perfect. Interstellar, though not an exception, is so predominately stunning that the scattered anomalies are little more than passing space dust in the vastness of its otherwise spectacular universe. In the near future the Earth is suffering from a drought. The “Dust Bowl” that happened in the mid west in the 1930’s has become a worldwide problem. Crops are drying up and huge dust storms are commonplace. Farmer/Engineer Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) and his family aren’t immune to the climate changes, either. However, it so happens that they discover some sort of code that leads Cooper to the headquarters of NASA. He’s informed that they’re sending a shuttle into space to try and solve the drought on Earth. Cooper, along with a skeleton crew, head off into the bowels of space and head for a wormhole that will allow them to travel beyond our solar system. The odds of survival are slim. Will Cooper and his crew be able to navigate the dangers of space and save the Earth or are they doomed?

The Endurance (09:24) - The design and construction of the film's main spaceship including a walk-through of the set by production designer Nathan Crowley. Life on Cooper’s Farm– We get a look at the location of the farm (in Canada, not the Mid-West), the immense corn field that was actually planted (and later sold, which turned a profit) as well as some of the accruements of the Cooper place. Life on Cooper's Farm—Bringing Americana and the grounded nature of a farm to a sci-fi space movie. The Space Suits—A look at the design and build of the suits and helmets, and what it was like to wear them. It’s a stunning video presentation which, for the majority of the runtime, will make your jaw drop. The Dust– The dust, which played a big part in the Earth sequences, was done on film as opposed to during post-production, for a more realistic effect.
