The album was recorded in three weeks with producer Flemming Rasmussen at Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen, Denmark. The overall recording costs were paid by Metallica's European label Music for Nations because Megaforce was unable to cover it. I bought one of them in Paris for something like 50FF - 7.60€ [!!!] and there were 10 more ex. on the shelf... Fight Fire With Fire": That acoustic intro belongs on a power metal album, and definitely not the opening to this song. The rest of this song is pure thrash metal, and pretty much the only pure thrash metal song on this album. If the entire album sounded like this, that'd be great, but no. 5/5 https://prnt.sc/aeJUz-B_6cYD An absolute beast of a pressing. Obviously one can not tell from that pictures here, but one can easily see how loud this pressing is, compared to other pressings and reissues.

finally got round to finishing all of this. the box set is fantastic. the remastered LP of the album sounds good enough. an improvement over recent re-issues but still not as good as the ones from the 80s. Two months after its release, Elektra Records signed Metallica to a multi-year deal and reissued the album. Although rooted in the thrash metal genre, the album showcased the band's musical growth and lyrical sophistication. This was partly because bassist Cliff Burton introduced the basics of music theory to the rest of the band and had more input in the songwriting. Instead of relying heavily on fast tempos as on its debut Kill 'Em All, Metallica broadened its approach by employing acoustic guitars, extended instrumentals, and more complex harmonies. Upon inspection, G+ is a generous grading. Both 12" look like they've been dragged across the floor for 30 years, along with numerous deep scratches and gouges. Sounds good. The 2022 remaster sounds "more punchy" than the 2016 US remaster, though I prefer the vocals - more audible - of the 2016 remaster. Also, my 2022 copy had some noise, while the 2016 US press (same barcode) didn't have any.It is the last album to feature songwriting contributions from former lead guitarist Dave Mustaine, and the first to feature contributions from his replacement, Kirk Hammett. Ok ok, there's shitloads of surface noise on the intros & quiet sections. My copy is barely hanging on to a G grading, the only thing stopping it from being Fair is that it doesn't skip.

If the price of the item drops before it's released, you will pay the lower price, but if it increases, you'll only pay the price you see today. OK, just one thing: I can't believe there were only 400 copies, because when it went out, in 1984, there were copies in each store. And there were A LOT of record stores in those days, believe me!yet it still plays like a boss. Even with all this abuse, it still sounds better than those recent "180g remastered" things. Deluxe box set includes 4LPs/6CDs/1-DVD with bonus book, mini book with handwritten lyrics, and poster set.
