Another trade-offforhavingan F1.4 maximum aperture in a relatively small lens is fairly severe barrel distortion that is easily detected in any scene with straight vertical elements. Without correction, it has potential to be a bit distracting. Here’s the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC along with the Canon EF 15mm f/2.8 Fisyeye, and the Canon EF 17-40mm f/4 L lens. Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC Lens color, but overall it has good control. I see no hard ghosts at any angle or aperture. Veiling glare is shows

Probably a typical question, but like others i'm torn between the sigma 30mm F1.4 and the Sony FE 28mm F2. May one of the dpreview staff or one of the viewers, who had tested both of this lenses, kindly tell me which one is more flare resistant ? :D Stop it down to around f/4 and it’s even sharper, with very fine details wonderfully reproduced. At f/8 in our real-world tests the images look just as sharp, although our tests show a slight drop in sharpness. The high number of complex elements and heavy vignetting mean that while the Sigma reports a maximum aperture of F1.4, the actual total amount of light that passes through the lens ends up being T1.8. Hey guys! Just wanted to ask the actual lens owners. Who got the successful copy without any issues like - hunting, incorrect built-in lens profile showing on lightroom/ACR, F2 blured images on af-s mode... ect all. The right shot shows the sun dead center, with no rings or flares. Very good control of flare and ghosting.

some bad news though; the very centers are sharp as stated above, but the image periphery is very soft, especially at apertures Between f/5.6 and f/11, the results are so close that it is nearly impossible to tell them apart. Peak sharpness is found at f/5.6 and diffraction begins to appear by f/8. As stated in the intro, one of the biggest reasons I switched to the Sony a6000 ecosystem was for the smaller size & weight. The α6500 compensates for five types of camera shake, extending opportunities to shoot steadier still images and movies.

shot was taken as close to the subject as focusing allowed; In this case, 10.4" or 264mm, measured from the front of I understand that the aesthetics of a lens is a rather minor point, but this one looks really nice.

I have briefly tested the setup with Canon's legendary FD 35-105mm, Macro (not an L lens, but well known for its sharpness and great optics).

At a long distance set to their fastest respective apertures, we can see that the 30mm f/2.8 is sharper than either the 30mm f/1.4 or the 35mm f/1.8. This doesn’t come as a surprise: peak sharpness on an f/1.4 or f/1.8 prime lens is rarely found at the fastest aperture and the f/2.8 aperture of the Sigma 30mm Art gives more contrast to start with. The 35mm f/1.8 is only a little sharper than the 30mm f/1.4 but once again, this is due to the difference in aperture. My old bright orange car I captured contrasted against the beauty of Waterton Lakes. Value for Money We’ve been using the 30mm F1.4 with a Nikon Z30. It’s reasonably well-balanced with this camera, not being as large as the Sigma 16mm. It would also work very well with the Nikon Zfc or the Z50 too. Otherwise, using the lens is more or less the same experience as working with it on a Fujifilm or other manufacturer’s camera. It benefits from fast, accurate and quiet autofocusing. It’s ideally suited as an everyday lens, and would make a reasonably good choice as perhaps your only lens for a day trip or similar outing.

It is a little more then exchanging the mechanical mount as the flange range of Fujifilm differs from that from the Sony mount. APS-C camera. It's noticeably a little wider than a 50mm lens on a full frame camera, so the focal length is not exaggerated,
