Is Teddy misunderstood or is Panda just a vicious sod? Si Hart gets drawn into Paul Magrs’ world of snowy days, picnics and gin! Even as a book on its own, I didn't like it that much. It tries too hard to be funny, self-deprecating and relatable through the main character 'Panda', who is simply an arsehole and mean to Teddy for no reason. Yes, I love gin and reading too but 🤷

I love it. Genuinely… Really appeals to my warped sense of humour.’– Gary Andrews, author of Finding Joy It’s lovely to see those moments between them where they show they’re really good friends underneath it all. That rings so true because we all have friends that we spar with or take the piss out of, but underneath there’s a deep bond. It’s those moments that show Magrs’ genius. It’s not just a simple spoof; this is a world we all know and deep down sometimes we’re all a bit like the Panda, aren’t we? I'm not sure how this is supposed to be a parody of The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse because it doesn't follow a narrative or use the same format like The Woman, the Mink, the Cod and the Donkey does. The only similarity here is the font type. If you like your books very sweary (I do!), hilariously funny (I do!) and snarky to the nth degree (yep!) then look no further!! This book has it all!I loved it and laughed a great deal. It may prove a perfect gift for my friends that are able to appreciate its cheeky humour this Christmas. Panda is the hero for those of us who already have our coping mechanisms in place and don't want a smug positive-thinker spoiling our misery. Cute and funny in places but also quite confusing sometimes. I can't tell if there is supposed to be a thread to follow and it is difficult to read some of the writing. The surely soon-to-be million-copy bestselling sort-of inspirational parody.. Enter the world of me, Panda, plus my sometime-friends Cat and Teddy. You will find us living our best lives, trying (and occasionally succeeding) to be kind to each other. It's basically a parody of The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse (which I also loved). Whereas that was full of inspiring and thought provoking writing, this book explores our reality. We can't be perfect all the time and sometimes we are like Panda and just don't give a shit.

This is a book of nice illustrations and some words from which you will likely gain some sort of inspiration. Like: 'Just because you're struggling, it doesn't mean you're failing... But it might do. 'Nothing beats kindness,' said the cat.The gentle and reassuring traditions of classic children’s books lovingly observed, and then gleefully profaned. Are you sitting comfortably? Well, that was probably your first mistake.’ The three titular characters are the ones interacting in this book. Panda is the fun fellow. Cat is supposed to be nice but is a little self-centred, as are most cats. Teddy considers himself the bee’s knees and is not a good friend to the other two. They are all “friends”, just not the nice sorts. A horrible book. It might appeal to anyone who finds constant use of the F word amusing but in my opinion it is totally unnecessary and the book is about as amusing as having ones leg amputated A horrible book.
