Description

Agent Asha and the Children’s Spy Agency bring learning to life in this immersive gift set which introduces children to the skills needed to be a spy and make secret codes. My kids absolutely love this, and I love the concept behind it. The story was funny, engaging and the tasks the same. I wish more people wrote books that taught our children about the ethical choices that they (and their parents) are making everyday. This rip-roaring secret agent caper for seven-plus is full or algorithms, debugging - broken down and engagingly explained - and fart jokes" This is a literacy activity linked to contractions and chapter 13 of the Agent Asha: Mission Shark Bytes book.

In 2016 Sophie partnered with Walker Books to publish the first in a series of three children’s novels, Agent Asha: Mission Shark Bytes. The book follows a girl who becomes a top secret child spy and uses her coding ingenuity to defeat power hungry tech giants. It combines big ideas and puzzling questions into twist-y, turn-y STEM-themed adventures that teach kids the foundational skills of computer science: logic, sequencing and critical thinking. We’re passionate about using the power of inclusive stories and inclusive role models to inspire ALL kids into STEM, and everything we sell is sustainable, plastic-free, carbon neutral and made locally by people who are paid fairly. A former lawyer, techie and school counsellor, Sophie is an award-winning author and Founder of Bright Little Labs - a media company using stories to teach kids aged 3-11 about technology and coding. Their products have been voted as the Independent’s Top Coding Toy three years in a row. The Agent Asha set makes a lovely gift, building excitement from the word go – arriving in a mysterious envelope and engaging children in the world of espionage which develops thinking skills and encourages their natural sense of curiosity. The app keeps crashing and doesn't let you get passes the first stage. My daughter was so excited to use it then so dissaponted after several failed attempts.

Agent Asha: Mission Shark Bytes - Deen, Sophie 9781406382723: Agent Asha: Mission Shark Bytes - Deen, Sophie

The story is a great way to engage young readers in coding, critical-thinking and STEM. It is mapped onto key National Curriculum Computing KS1 and KS2 concepts including algorithms, conditionals and debugging. Agent Asha: Mission Shark Bytes I love the idea behind Detective Dot. Unfortunately neither my son nor niece liked the actual Detective Dot. The story writing is weak. It's adequate, but it doesn't compare to the excellent and funny children's books around today. The puzzles/tasks are a real disappointment. I expected the learning tasks to be nicely integrated with the story, and be fun. Instead, they're separate, and feel more like homework tasks rather than fun puzzles or challenges.Previous clients include: F.S.G/Macmillan, Little Bee Books, Stripes Publishing, Capstone Publishing, Holiday House, Oxford University Press and Scholastic. A fantastic class novel, with a strong Asian female character, all about coding and computers with a sprinkling of fart jokes - what could be better? -- Sycamore Grove - Toppsta There was lots of excitement when the ‘documents’ arrived, with a note to the postman marking them top secret and dangerous! The personalisation is a lovely touch which made sure the children were keen to open it up straight away! The set does a great job of engaging the children and making them feel part of the spy agency, this is complemented by the book it comes with which encourages their reading skills to learn more about the spy world.

We have differentiated this resource and created seven different worksheets so you can choose which to use and which punctuation you focus on.My 7 year old daughter and 9 year old son loved this book and, as a parent, I can't praise it highly enough. It was a genuinely great read for the modern child. Good fun, good to see a wonderfully inspiring female lead and fantastic that it encourages an interest in coding. It's a great way to encourage girls to think that STEM subjects might actually be for them. You will examine the front cover, read through the prologue and discuss the various points highlighted in the resource aimed at LKS2 classes.
