I smellt it before, but it was warmer weather and I could smell patchouli after the citrus green opening.

I wore it at the time and it was fantastic for its outfit for an eau de toilette, very original with a lemon that stood out with its contemporaries. Update 2: It doesn't evolve much. It's pretty linear, and what you get at the top is pretty much the whole scent, mandarin orange being dominant. This Cosmair era bottle has higher concentration and projects well for the first hour and a half, and lasts about 5 hours on my skin, which isn't great, but twice as long as I get from the last formulation. On me, the lily is WAY too strong. It's certainly not feminine, but it's not quite masculine, either. Very neutral. Sedate, as in sedated.

I'm far from the biggest fan of citrus bombs, but this aromatic is high quality, classy, and has depth. You can forget about getting anywhere close to this level with cheapies such as Victor or Aqua di Selva. As I apply, there is a bitter-sweet tinge making me curious about the development. In about a couple of hours the invigorating spice bonfire quietly excuses itself and a deeper and darker mystery unfolds itself. It is certainly NOT screaming: "Hey, look at me, I can wear this and it will make me cool!", but boldly introducing itself and assuming it's position. The vibe of the drydown is mysterious. Although imposing, it suggests rather than states. Instead of amusing you, it shares the experience. It is like your energy-booster (in a deeper, non-Redbull fashion). Maybe that is why it grew on me so fast. Guerlain has plenty of classic citrus scents - Eau de Cologne Imperiale, Eau de Guerlain, Aqua Allegoria Limon Verde, and the now discontinued Aqua Allegoria Lemon Fresca, to name a few. It opens strong but generic, citrus and cool spices, and it dries down to something I consider way too flowery, kind of like hair grease.

Another thing I noticed; when I sprayed the tester in the store I wasn't sure I liked it. It seemed a little meh.... But I bought a bottle anyway and it smells wonderful. This fragrance opens with zesty basil notes which gives it its classic freshness. Then it gradually transforms into a heavy patchouli and sandlewood base which lasts 4 to 5 hours in a fall or winter season. Wonderful scent! it is a type of lemony, but has a spicy edge and a type of sexyness throughout. maybe it is lily and some musk. It even has a bit of powder in it. patchouli too. I didn't have a chance to smell Eau Pour Homme from '84 unfortunately. But this is (IMO) currently the best fragrance from Armani's "mainstream" lineup. Armani Code Eau de Parfum for Men is an invitation to experience the essence of a sensual woody amber fragrance, a symphony of seduction that effortlessly captures intense attraction. It's a fragrance that evokes a mood of passionate, yet seemingly effortless, seduction, making it the signature scent of the man who knows how to attract with innate magnetism.Update: Very similar to Boucheron Homme in the opening. I'm also finding it similar to Eau Sauvage and Pour Monsieur (two of my favourites). If you enjoy the aforementioned fragrances you should definitely try this one. However, compared to contemporary warm-weather men's fragrances, I find that Armani Eau Pour Homme is just not that competitive. Its a nice enough fragrance but smelling it makes me crave for something much fresher, something like Armani's 1996 masterpiece, Acqua di Gio. Eau Pour Homme is not for young guys. If you've worn Axe in the past five years - no. You haven't earned this one yet. This one is for educated, forward-moving, experienced, interesting, dashing men - at least in their mid-thirties. It opens with a very natural smelling blend of citrus fruits, lavender, and cloves. Some sandalwood and oakmoss appear in the soapy dry-down. I'm 33 and I think this is one of the best old school citrus fragrances suitable for modern times since the blend of citrus, oakmoss and spices is perfectly balanced. I'd actually vote it above Dior's Eau Sauvage which is considered by many as the king in this genre. To my nose this smells "more natural" than Eau Sauvage. The oak moss is subdued here so it doesn't smell too dated but it's definitely present.
