The specials are double-length episodes that are first broadcast during the Christmas, New Year, or Memorial Day periods before being repeated alongside regular episodes. Gup-W - a Gup that seems to be a large mobile hospital for Peso. Only the toy has been released, alongside the Gup-P so far. They were in Octonauts and the Great Barrier Reef. The Gup-W has first been released in animation form in Season 5 and in a feature-length film. Also due to Octonauts and the Great Barrier Reef, we have learned that it has some medical Octo-bots, the Nurse-bot, and the Bandage-bot. Inside the mouth of the Gup-W, there are bubble filters and an entrance/exit for the Gup-P. Gups are special underwater submarine-like vehicles that the Octonauts use. There are currently 26 Gups (not including the so called " Terra Gups" from Octonauts: Above and Beyond) known in Octonauts, but not all of them have been seen. Most have appeared in the episodes and specials of the series, and at least 5 have appeared in the two movies ( The Underwater Caves of Sac Actun , Octonauts and the Great Barrier Reef and the The Octonauts Movie: The Ring of Fire.). Her father, Ranger Marsh, tends to call it a big, noisy hunk of junk, mainly because he did not understand her way with her "gadgets and gizmos". Though, he came to understand its use and found it quite enjoyable to ride in, especially when it went underwater in The Nine Banded Armadillo.Barnacles and Kwazii investigate a disruption on a nearby reef; A carrier crab and the urchin he keeps on top of his shell as a defence against predators has a falling out and just can't seem to get along. The Octonauts must evacuate some slow-moving, gelatinous blobfish before an undersea volcano erupts. The Gup-G is a Mobile Operations Base capable of deploying other Gups. But when she and the Octonauts finally locate it, they find themselves caught in the middle of a feeding frenzy!As newborn baby sea turtles make their way to the ocean, the Octonauts must help them avoid predators when a large wave threatens the island where the precious eggs are buried - not that they'll admit it!

When red-hot volcanoes start a chain reaction of disasters across the ocean, the Octonauts must work together to face their biggest challenge yet. The Octonauts explore the deepest part of the ocean where no daylight ever reaches and find some hydrothermal vents where vent fish, limpets and tube worms live, and they also discover a new species of worm to be put in Shellington's book. An enormous killer whale is stranded on a beach, and with some help from some fiddler crabs, the Octonauts manage to rescue him.Captain Barnacles allows Tunip to use his Octo-compass. But when Tunip loses it, a cuttlefish takes it. Shellington and the others round up some lost crabs and marine iguanas that have got marooned on an island far too cold for them and take them home to the Galápagos Islands. The Octonauts struggle to save a pod of spinner dolphins who seem to be just swimming in their sleep.
