All the main HDR formats are here, which means HDR10, HLG (used by iPlayer and Sky Q), along with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. The latter two add dynamic metadata to the HDR signal, optimising the performance to give the Hisense a better chance at HDR with its relative 700 nits of (peak) brightness.

Despite that, the opening ten minutes of 1917 (Dolby Vision) shows solid motion stability as Schofield and Blake make their way through the trenches. The only noticeable effect is some blurry edge definition as a group of soldiers walk by. The same can be said for the shaky-camera races in Days of Thunder (Dolby Vision). The U7Q is more confident in this aspect than it was pre-update. This TV has a problem with motion when watching 24fps content. Unfortunately, that includes most film and premium TV, whether played from a disc or streamed from a service such as Netflix, or through a media streamer.Considering it's one of Hisense’s top-end TVs, there's no getting around the fact that the 55U7QFTUK is a disappointment. Updates have made the U7QF better, but not completely absolved it of motion handling issues. It lags behind other manufacturers in this regard.

For simple voice control, the VIDAA U Smart TV interface also supports Alexa. Search for TV content or use any Alexa ability, simply with voice control. When it comes to HD video, the Hisense U7QF is more than capable of upscaling for its 4K display. The classic British comedy Hot Fuzz looked sharp and detailed – with none of those grainy filters you often get with sub-standard upscaling – while also showing off the U7QF’s exceptional brightness control.

Design, Connections and Control

The next step was to try and narrow down our search even more. So we’ve already looked the prices of products in the Televisions category. Then we’ve also looked at the prices of products from Hisense. So this step combines the two and looks specifically at the price you’d expect to pay for Hisense branded products in the Televisions category. One area where the Hisense U7QF excels is its hardware design. It manages to sport a sleek appearance, with a thin bezel and an angular two-tone base with subtle diagonal lines – as well as a trapezium-shaped stand that gives it a futuristic look, while offering better balance than a pair of feet likely would. Problems still persist. The scene in Skyfall (Dolby Vision Bright) where Bond is served a martini at the Macau gambling palace features smearing, but at least it’s better controlled (just). Animation can suffer too, as an episode of The Simpsons eluded the Hisense’s grip. Switch to standard-def content from the built-in tuner and the Hisense copes much better, largely because the higher frame rate of the signal requires less processing from the TV, and the motion smearing issue is almost gone. Redefine the sound of your living room with Dolby Atmos®, immersing yourself in the action with powerful audio flowing around you for a full cinematic experience.

For fast-paced action, adventure and sports games, the game mode reduces the entry delay to less than 20 ms. This ensures faster reaction times, allowing you to stand in front of the opposition.

There are several settings and processor modes that you can use to try to find a balance that works but, ultimately, none of them fully solve the underlying problem. It’s a shame because there are some good things about this TV’s picture performance. The first is brand. Looking at the brand of the product is often a really good indicator for judging product quality. For example you’d expect a much higher quality product from a brand known for providing excellent quality than you would from an unknown or even a budget brand. A cookie set by YouTube to measure bandwidth that determines whether the user gets the new or old player interface.

Of all the TV's sound modes, Theatre gives the best possible sense of space and, even if weightless and uninspiring, at least the dialogue and the rest of the audio is easy to hear. Verdict The next step after looking at products in the same category, was to look at products from the same brand, Hisense. The video processing in the Hisense U7QF is powered by the Hi-View Engine which helps with motion and scaling of images. We found the upscaling to be good with only the odd instance of ringing around fine lines in some test patterns, but this was not visible in the vast majority of HD content we viewed. We're currently building two sepearate databases to give users the best and most informative ways of searching for their parts Search by Part Number However, an update appears to have ironed this out. It’s not perfect, but motion is smoother. Judder is still apparent, but less egregious. Smooth and Standard Ultra Smooth Motion settings serve up the subtlest performance, though the Film works well for movies. Hisense 50U7QFTUK uses a range of high-end technologies to deliver class-leading image quality. Quantum Dot Colour is closer to the original than ever before, with over a billion realistic colors. Full Array Local attenuation controls individual areas of the screen for darker, lighter contrast, providing excellent contrast. Wide Colour Gamut maximizes the range of colors for greater color diffusion. It has a strong feature set and performs fairly well in some aspects, but the smeary motion undoes a lot of the good work the set does elsewhere. Find out why Hisense 50 Inch 50U7QFTUK 4K Ultra HD QLED TV with HDR scored an incredible review score of 8.9 out of 10.
