The LawnMaster VBRM16 cuts in a random pattern. When you turn it on, it’ll start mowing in a forwards direction and will then move around the lawn. When it reaches a boundary or an obstacle, the LawnMaster VBRM16 will turn to cut in another direction. As a seasoned expert in the field of garden power tools, I have dedicated over a decade to working with and reviewing a wide variety of lawn mowers. My extensive experience has allowed me to gain a deep understanding of the benefits and limitations of different types of mowers and garden tools. The robot mower will cut in a random pattern for up to 4 hours* which covers lawns up to 100m2. The VBRM16 OcuMow™ is designed to mow once or twice a week during daylight hours in dry weather, cutting and dropping the grass clippings on the lawn as a natural fertiliser. Another feature that impressed me with the performance of this cordless mower was the way in which the rear roller striped the lawn. Grabbing it by the handle, I plonked it on my lawn, pressed two buttons, and the mower was off and mowing. Again, I hope you can see from my video just how well this cordless LawnMaster CLMF4841E did at striping my lawn. The fitted rear roller is a single piece and runs almost the full width of the mower. As mentioned above, I still have beautifully manicured striped appearance two weeks after the initial cut. I’ve always talked about how important it is to have a good range of cutting heights as this allows you to mow your lawn according to the season and conditions. Therefore, I was delighted that the LawnMaster CLMF4841E comes with a selection of cutting heights between 22mm and 72mm. The lower one is extremely generous for a rotary mower and is something that would please those that like a low and neat cut to their lawn. The 72mm maximum cutting height is also generous and will allow you to cut a lawn that is overgrown and neglected. In summary, these cutting heights are certainly suitable for most domestic users. Power delivery is adjusted according to the grass conditions, delivering extra power in tougher conditions and reserving battery life during lighter cutting. The padded handle of the LawnMaster 41cm folds down at two points; the lower part and the mid section. This makes it much more compact, so it’s perfect for storing in a crowded garden shed.

My front garden doesn’t have any slopes, but there are lawns all over the UK that do. If this sounds like your garden then you’ll be pleased to know that the LawnMaster VBRM16 can handle inclines up to 35%. This is comparable to the range of Flymo and WORX robotic mowers. Those looking for neater edges will be better served by the Worx Landroid M500 Plus WR165E. This needs perimeter wire and a base station to be installed but its off-set blade is capable of cutting as close to the edge of the grass as a robot mower can safely be allowed. Its cutting schedule can be controlled by a smartphone app and it can manage a lawn of up to 500m2. Moreover, you will notice that there is a full width single starter handle bar suitable for both left and right hand turns. This makes it much easier to move around corners without having to cut off the power.

With the LawnMaster VBRM16, you don’t need to blow your life savings to get a robot mower with a fantastic range of features and that does an excellent job of cutting. In the event that the LawnMaster VBRM16 completes the mow but has missed any spots, you can use the spot cut mode to tidy these up. The LawnMaster CLMF4841E is a cordless lawn mower weighing just 14.2kg and is powered by two 4.0Ah 24 volt (48V) batteries (four supplied) and comes with two fast chargers. The batteries take 60 minutes to charge and will deliver up to 25 minutes of continuous run-time per battery. It features a 41cm cutting blade, 42 litre grass collection bag and is designed for lawns up to 450m². I have also done a video review of the LawnMaster VBRM16 which includes a detailed rundown of its performance and, as you will see, the excellent results on my front lawn. Again, for such an affordable piece of equipment, I was pleasantly surprised. As mentioned above, there are two operator presence control levers on both the left and right of the bars. This helps with manoeuvrability and for going around corners in both left and right turns.

It’s designed to cut up to 100m² and has a 16cm cutting width. Combine this with the four hour run time, which I’ll talk more about shortly, and you’ve got something that’s going to deliver an even cut without running out of power. On top of this, the rear roller provided for greater stability, which coupled with the larger rear wheels gave me a mower that was easy to manoeuvre. The 3 pivoting blades can be adjusted to cut grass any height from 20mm to 60mm. High specification deep tread wheels and powerful drive system grips slopes of up to 35% (19º). While the LawnMaster VBRM16 is a pretty simple piece of equipment in the scheme of things, it does have a good number of features, especially when you consider the low price. The camera detects the difference between surface textures and colours, for example grass or paving, and the ultrasonic sensors detect obstacles higher than 6cm, such as plants, garden furniture, walls and fences meaning there is no need for a boundary wire. If you are someone that doesn’t want the hassle of using a complicated advanced robotic lawn mower, then the LawnMaster VBRM16 will be right up your street. It’s a brilliant entry level robot mower as operation is as good as fool proof. What’s more, it’s incredibly affordable so you won’t need to spend a lot of money to familiarise yourself with this type of technology.
