Description

The blades on any lawn mower have the potential to cause a serious injury so I was pleased to see that the LawnMaster VBRM16 comes with a lift and tilt sensor. As a seasoned expert in the field of garden power tools, I have dedicated over a decade to working with and reviewing a wide variety of lawn mowers. My extensive experience has allowed me to gain a deep understanding of the benefits and limitations of different types of mowers and garden tools. The controls on the mower itself are extremely basic. All you can do is set it off for a three hour or a six hour mowing session. There’s a large emergency stop button, a button for returning it to its charging station, and the dial for selecting the grass length. The beauty of the LawnMaster VBRM16 is that it’s so easy to use. It doesn’t require a smartphone app so it’s perfect if you’re not great with tech and even the control panel on the machine is a breeze to use.

With the LawnMaster VBRM16, you don’t need to blow your life savings to get a robot mower with a fantastic range of features and that does an excellent job of cutting. Functionality cannot be extended with optional accessories like some other brands i.e. WORX robotic mowers One of the things I noticed when I was setting the LawnMaster VBRM16 up was that it comes with a safety key. This is something you normally see with cordless lawn mowers so I felt it was a nice touch. The benefit of this is that you don’t need to worry about any accidental start ups if you have kids. Just take the key out and there’s no way for the mower to be started even if the battery is fitted. What’s Included In The Box? That said, here are some of the most important features you should look for when choosing a robotic lawn mower. Battery Grabbing it by the handle, I plonked it on my lawn, pressed two buttons, and the mower was off and mowing.A rear roller is used on a regular lawn mower to weigh down on the grass which in turn creates stripes. However, this is not a feature you see on a robot mower as there simply isn’t enough weight to make stripes. In summary, robotic mowers do not create stripes on your lawn for this reason and the fact that they mow in a random pattern. Can You Mulch With A Robotic Mower? For the best performance and latest features, keep your LawnMaster robot mower firmware up to date. If you are looking for a robot lawn mower that is incredibly easy to set up then you might want to consider LawnMaster or Flymo GO range. Both are amazingly simple to get started and have even simpler controls that even those who aren’t the most tech savvy can understand.

Powerful, easy to use and built to last, LawnMaster lawnmowers and garden power tools provide a solution for every garden. Our great value lawn mower range includes cordless lawnmowers, electric lawn mowers, robotic lawn mowers and hover mowers. Whatever the shape or size of your garden, we have the best lawnmower for you.The charging station is oriented so that the terminals are on the left and open end on right (as viewed from the centre of the lawn) READ NEXT: The best garden sprinkler to keep your grass looking lush LawnMaster L10 review: Is it difficult to set up? It’s possibly better aimed at those with a small garden looking for an easy life, rather than anyone wanting a perfect lawn. No robot mower is good at creating neat edges up to every type of boundary but this model won’t even do a perimeter lap to straighten everything off. I really appreciated the ease with which it gets up and running, though. READ NEXT: Best lawn mower for a small garden LawnMaster VBRM16 review: How well does it mow the lawn? However, the downside to not having a charging station is that the lawn mower won’t automatically return to it. Some more advanced models will return when the battery is low and many have rain sensors so they’ll return when they detect rain. With the LawnMaster VBRM16, you will need to keep an eye on the weather and if the heavens open, you’ll need to go out and bring the mower in. Control Panel, Setup and App

Anyone who doesn’t fancy the requirement to lay wire or doesn’t have a straightforward place to plug in a charging station should look to the LawnMaster VBRM16. This robot mower scans the grass ahead of itself to avoid driving off your lawn. The downside is that, without a charging station the LawnMaster VBRM16 can’t find its way home. It’s also priced at the affordable end of the scale, but can only mow lawns up to 100m² in size. Instead, when you first get the robot, you only need to charge the removable battery using the separate charging unit. It comes partially charged and I found it was fully charged within 30 minutes. Remove it from the charger and slot it into the cavity on the rear of the mower, and it’s good to go. The battery should last around three hours and only takes an hour to charge from empty. In the event that the LawnMaster VBRM16 completes the mow but has missed any spots, you can use the spot cut mode to tidy these up. For safety, the mower detects and avoids obstacles using the camera and ultrasonic sensors. It also features a safety key preventing use by children, and sensors which stop the blades when the machine is lifted.Make sure that the battery indicator is green and has sufficient charge to perform the software update. The robot mower will cut in a random pattern for up to 4 hours* which covers lawns up to 100m2. The VBRM16 OcuMow™ is designed to mow once or twice a week during daylight hours in dry weather, cutting and dropping the grass clippings on the lawn as a natural fertiliser. These blades can be raised and lowered using a dial on the top of the device, which sits underneath a protective cover. You can choose grass lengths of between 20 and 55mm, though unlike most robots, there’s no height guide on the dial itself – you have to work out where you want it from the Min, Max and Mid guidelines moulded into the plastic. Additional batteries can extend running time (sold separately). Battery duration depends on lawn conditions.
