I've been sizing Crosman primer Hollow Points and testing them. My Gamo likes the loser 4.47-4.48 pellets best. It also loves the RWS Superdomes that just happen to be 4.47 and 4.48 head size. I don't think this is a coincidence.

There are also larger calibres available, such as .25 and .303, but in my opinion these are only really worth bothering with if you’re shooting an FAC rifle that is over 12ft/lbs, as the extra mass of the pellet requires more force to push it. These larger pellets are designed for hunting at long ranges and can provide devastating power at the 20-30ft/b range. I have seen a few researching this very subject but this seems to coincide with your test requirements. Log in to Reply These pellet sizers are able to reduce the diameter of the pellet skirt resulting in consistent size and shaped pellets. A warranty is provided by each manufacturer to ensure that your product is free of defect in both materials and workmanship. The star shape also reduces turbulence around the nose of the pellet for better accuracy. These pellets are never going to be match target winners but when it comes to pest controlling these pellets are absolutely devastating at close to medium range, even at 12ft/lbs. Other hollow points to consider : H&N Barracuda Hunter , Bisley Pest ControlThese are some of the cheapest pellets that money can. But don’t let that put you off, these practice pellets are made to a great standard and feature a classic wadcutter shape to cut clean holes in a paper target, allowing you to see exactly where you have shot. For this reason I think the Bisley practice pellets make a great choice for zeroing scopes in at short range and, well, practising. Shoot a 20-shot group of sized pellets and another 20-shot group of unsized pellets at the same distance. You really should shoot at 20 yards or more to see a significant difference, although at 10 yards you can sometimes notice a difference if the number of shots is high enough.

I get your sentiment, and for 95% of shooters your right, but if you get involved with BR or some other comps where just a mm is all the difference in scoring then tiny changes make a big difference to the scorecards. An alternative heavy pellet would be the Eun Jin pellet that weighs 28 grains. But I think even that is too heavy for the power of a Talon SS unless you use the optional 24-inch barrel. Then the rifle will get the heavy pellet up to speed for best accuracy. If you live in a state or city where air guns are treated as firearms you may be able to take advantage of our FFL special program. This month, we take a look a closer look at airgun pellets. If you’re pondering pellet selection, whether it’s target shooting or hunting on your airgun or air pistol, this is the post to help you choose the right buy….. The correct airgun pellet selection is essential to a good day’s shooting Pellet Size I have one of these somewhere and I didn't see any difference in accuracy when I was doing alot of pellet testing New version: Similar for Steyr but longer, with three air stripper plates as well. ComBrella can’t be connected to this model. Pellet collector for pellet sizers. Please note that the pellet sizer is NOT included, it has to be bought separately from UK Neil or other manufacturers.

I shoot a .177 Thomas FT rifle. I bought a pellet gauge and sorted a tin of 13.4 gr JSB Monsters which I shoot about 820 FPS for 20 FPE Our pellet sizer has an adjustable stop that goes through the centre of thesizerbody, the sizer has a tapered bore. To use the sizer just drop a pellet into the larger hole at the bottom and push the pellet (with the pusher supplied) until it reaches the stop. By unscrewing the adjuster it will make the pellets smaller, while screwing it in will make the pellets larger, this is when the pellet is pushed to the stop with the brass pusher. Mitch, I think that pellet sizer that Ted used was a custom made job from a personal friend of his?I would say this is definitive proof about different size and how finding that right size of a certain pellet for a single air rifle/pistol: Some brands of pellets will let you choose what size of skirt the pellets have. This will be displayed as 0.01 differences in the calibre, for example .177 pellets will be marked as 4.51, 4.52, 4.53, etc. The idea behind this is the wider the skirt, the better the seal behind the pellet. This provides a greater pressure behind the pellet forcing it out at greater speed and therefore improving accuracy. Clean your barrel once with JB Bore Compound and then do not clean it again. Never oil it – just shoot it. The device is designed to give an equivalent impact force to an airgun pellet hitting the paddle of a target at 5.5 ft/lbs energy (7 Joules). To mimic the effect of a target being shot at with a WFTF legal air rifle at 55 yards.” The majority of my pellets were in the 4.54 head size with 4.53 and 4.55 being on the outer fringes for a .01 mm plus or minus for the 400 count tin which I thought was pretty tight tolerence.
