With personalisation and spatial audio features, the Denon PerL Pro earbuds sound truly astonishing But as a newcomer, these buds require conditioning in specific areas. Comfort levels are hit or miss, depending on your pain threshold, and some of the sound features don’t exactly operate the way Sennheiser intended. The defaults are intuitive but can be customised, although I was disappointed to find you can’t map the ability to switch between aware and focus mode to the touch controls.

Wanting to test them out on something more treble-y, we listened to M7 by Seba & Ulrich Schnauss. Clattering synths and sonorous chimes had a brilliant level of clarity, with a sweet tone throughout. The sports-oriented touches that Sennheiser has given to the CX Sports could well make them the ideal workout headphones, with an attractive and rugged design and a comfortable fit. Of course, that lime green design won't appeal to everyone, but we liked it. In addition, the headphones come with an adjustable sidetone, making phone calls “more comfortable by letting you hear your own voice during calls”. That being said, the built-in microphone is functional but isn’t the best. We regularly see an IPX4 rating (which is the same as IP54 in terms of water resistance) for models with ANC, but the Sport True Wireless in-ears don't offer any special features that excuse this low rating. Even a few pairs with noise cancellation, such as the Jabra Elite 7 Active, feature a superior rating (IP57). And some far more affordable options, such as the Tribit FlyBuds 3 (IPX7) do better here. Both of these models are among the best earbuds for runners.Comfort is good, build quality is typically impressive and the sound is spacious, refined and clear. The spec sheet boasts top-notch battery life (28 hours), Bluetooth codec support (aptX Adaptive) and superb noise-cancelling technology. Vacuum technology gets smaller and lighter every year. Sennheiser Sport True Wireless review - SoundGuys

Supplied with both Open and Closed earbud adapters, the Sport True Wireless earphones let you choose how much of the outside world to let in. Generally, it’s recommended to use the Closed buds at the gym and the Open buds when out for a run, keeping you more aware of surrounding traffic. They deliver in the main ways you’d hope for: they sound excellent, especially given the price, and the wings provide a secure fit that’s pretty comfortable during extended use. However, the buds don’t offer ANC, and the “adaptable acoustics” feature – where different ear tip designs allow for either more awareness or more passive noise cancellation – didn’t really make a difference in the real world. Sennheiser Sport True Wireless Review: Price And Availability One-tap Google Fast Pair and multipoint technology (pair to two devices simultaneously) are MIA. Sennheiser Sport True Wireless review: Verdict Sonically, the CX Sports deliver a large dose of Sennheiser’s traditional in-ear sound. Clarity permeates through the frequence range, allowing for lots of detail to shine through. The sound is also built on a solid foundation of full-bodied and powerful bass. This works well in theory, since you physically alter the hardware to change the sound, so you get a more natural sound than if you only tweaked it in the Sennheiser app. Of course, you can – and should – change the sound profile in the Sennheiser app to match the ear tips you have applied; but even so, the buds will naturally cancel/let in more sound.A drastic departure from their predecessor, the new Huawei FreeBuds 5 look and sound different from the rest In short I’m not going to recommend these unless you’re a Sennheiser loyalist who has bigger ears, and who’s looking for better than average sports headphones audio quality. If you’ve evaluated these, you may find that for you, the pros could outweigh the cons, but for me, because they’re so uncomfortable, it doesn’t matter how good they sound: I can’t wear them. Purpose made for all types of workout, the Sennheiser Sport True Wireless earphones are your best gym buddy.
